92pts "A breezy six months in old French oak puncheons and around 15% whole bunches. I dig these sorts of wines. They're more about fruit purity and slurpiness than structural architecture. The Omnia Nova delivers nicely with spicy, plummy fruits in the blue and purple spectrum, some hints of orange rind, purple flowers, light amaro-tones and a dusting of cocoa powder. Built for drinkin' not thinkin'.” - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
92pts "Omnia Nova – all become new – is old vine Barossa shiraz made in a ‘nouveau’ style. It spends a brief stint in oak before promptly going into bottle and into the world. It has that ‘just made’ feel to it. It’s like tasting direct from a barrel/tank at a winery; it has that uber freshness, that ribald fruitiness, that blinding immediacy. It’s a wonderful impression for a wine to make. Plums, cloves, mints and assorted sweet spice characters make for a high energy, highly delicious red wine. Yes please. It’s a great drink. ‘Nuff said." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
92pts " A peppery and energetic shiraz with notes of peppercorns, fresh blackberries, thyme and bay leaves. It’s medium-bodied with bright acidity and fine tannins providing a fresh and precise frame." - James Suckling
91pts "Super clean and bright fruit. Polished and clean. Green peppercorns and green olives with molten chocolate, gunflint, cherry, cranberry, rose petals, velvet and a little burnt orange zest. Lithe, crunchy, bright fruit forward fun. Irresistible and juicy. Dark edged, slick texture with the right amount fruit tannin grip and a little waxy phenolics. Summertime red, maybe even a chill." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

"Evangeline embraces the cool nature of the southern Eden Valley's higher altitude and is crafted for elegance, poise and approachable structure on release. The fine tannins and brooding, dense nature of Eden Valley fruit unfurls further with several years in the cellar. We really enjoy this wine at around five to eight years of age." - Halliday's 2024 Cellaring Selections

"Single-vineyard Eden Valley Syrah sourced from the Noack family property in Springton at 410m elevation. Plummy and pure with layers of spice, sage, liquorice, blueberry pie, violets, pepper, vanillin oak and merest whiff of mint. There is a graceful air to the fruit passage across the palate, tannins, fine but tensing on the mid-palate with a purple floral flourish on the exit." - Dave Brookes, Halliday
2020
94pts + SILVER - Abundant ripe plums and summer berry fruits, cut through with fine spice, blueberries with a whiff of vanilla and subtle, sexy French oak. There's a lovely fruit flow, some nice cool-climate crunch and a cascade of fine tannin for support. A lot to like here." - Dave Brooks, Halliday Wine Companion
SILVER - 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards
93pts "Lifted, vibrant, youthful, ripe, so pure and bright. Ripe berry fruit flavours with a touch of spice. This wine has layers of complexity with savoury nuances. Will improve with time." - Decanter Wine Magazine
93pts "Serious and cool EV Shiraz. Soaking plums, darker cassis, pencilly and vanilla oak influence (in a good way), cracked peppercorns and just a little leafy kitchen herb. Mid to full bodied with lovely flow and glide to the palate. Peering focus, narrowed eye slits drawing on purple and red fruits, nuanced with cool pepper and neatly etched tannins. Calm and serene" - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
91pts "This has aromas of dried violets, blackcurrants, cracked pepper and sage. Fresh and bright with savory and peppery layers. Medium-bodied. All nicely wrapped up in firm, fine tannins." - James Suckling
2019
GOLD MEDAL + 95pts "A modern style of shiraz with ripe but not overripe fruit with high quality oak given just enough opportunity to make its point without dominating the argument. The fruit here is dense blues and blacks, with suggestions of vanilla and cedar. It is finished with beautifully fine, ripe tannins." - Royal Adelaide Wine Show
SILVER - 2022 Sommeliers Choice Awards
93pts "It’s always good, always reliable. This 2019 release is as good as any previous, maybe even better. It’s just so juicy. Just so perfumed. Just so enjoyable. Blueberry, boysenberry, plum and clove notes meet mint, sweet spice and woodsmoke. There’s a clear jellied/jubey aspect but there’s also a good reach of tannin, with the length to match. It’s both warm and fresh-faced at once; it’s in excellent order." - Campbell Mattison, The Wine Front
91/100 "Aromas of blue fruits, red cherry, spice and a cool menthol lift. Flavours are mid to full-bodied, the fleshy, generous blueberry and dark cherry fruit flavours are round and layered, with plenty of tannin and acid-derived structure. A well-made, soft, juicy, round and very drinkable wine." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
92pts "A very dark, dense colour, the nose shows lots of spice and white pepper, some quite exotic fruit and floral notes but pure and ripe blackberry and blueberry dominates. The gentle toast of the oak comes through on nose and palate, in a wine where a smooth but savoury fruit stays pliable and fresh across the mid-palate. The finish has fresh acids, very tight tannins, the oak again adding some toast in the finish" - Tom Cannavan's Wine Pages
“A lovely dark fruit character with a herbal edge to it, like a peppery gunpowder note. Gravelly tannins, a touch of sweet pastry, vanilla, nice and long, with a warmth, but the alcohol doesn’t sit outside the frame of the wine.” - Mark Pygott MW
2018
92 pts "Spice, liquorice, black fruit, sage and mint. Medium-bodied, red and black fruit, fresh, light tannin, lively, good finish. Easy to like. Affable and regional." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
2016
95/100 "Fresh plum, dry spice and dried banana-like aromas, fruit-driven and fresh, with some Rhône-ish notes. The palate has linearity and fleshy concentration, with ample soft tannins and refreshing acidity. A very appealing wine, the texture being a highlight. It drinks superbly already." - Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, Huon Hooke
2015
95/100 "Deepish red/purple hue, with a lifted floral aroma, clean and fresh and aromatic. The palate is similar, not big or heavy but intense and spicy, red-fruited and elegant, and finishing long on the aftertaste, with abundant firm tannins. There's lovely fruit-sweetness in the middle and a certain raspberry jam Eden Valley signature. Excellent." - Huon Hooke
93/100 "The flavour profile is sweeter than the word 'syrah' might imply but the wine's quality is never in doubt. Flavours of port wine jelly, pure plum, sweet raspberry and assorted dry/twiggy spices fill out the palate well; nutty tannin then completes the picture perfectly. Throughout the wine feels fluid and supple, making it a pleasure to spend time with." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday
92 pts "Char-grilled pepper steak, black fruits and boot polish, a whiff of dried herb. Medium bodied, meaty and savoury, with pastille and prune, grainy tannin, a slight angularity to the palate with an almost ‘metallic’ feel, though not in a bad way, I’d add, and a spicy red and black fruited finish. A wilder more bunchy style of Barossa Shiraz, but pretty nicely done." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
2014
92/100 "Red berries, boysenberries, spice and violets. It has some blackberried or at least plummy depth but the wine's sheer drinkability is conjured with soft fingers of highly accessible flavour. It has the acid/tannin structure to age, and the balance, but it's hard to find a good reason not to tuck in right now." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday

Asian spice is layered beneath the fruit with hints of turned earth, pressed flowers, ginger cake and a chocolate-coated cherry vibe. 91pts "This is a succulent red blend with a fresh array of strawberries, peppercorns, plums, violets and tea leaves on the nose. Medium-bodied with creamy tannins. Bright and gently spicy finish." - James Suckling Reviews
91pts "Lovely riffing on the theme. Alcohol spike on the nose seems to have dropped for this vintage. It’s drying herbs, choc ganache, hazelnut spread, roast ginger, fleshy plum and earthy base. Silky and slippery with neatly slotted in tannins working in a sharp left-right combo with bright acidity. Cuddly red fruits balanced with savoury herbs and iodine present well. Another winner from the CB team." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
91pts "Deep, dark and dense in the glass. Evocative, dark fruited and spice aromas. Plum, blueberry, cola, licorice and dried herbs. There’s a fair bit going on here. The palate is fleshy, dark fruited and mouth-filling. Mulberry, plum and dark cherry are all at play and their's a nice lick of sweet oak and spice. Tannins are shapely, acidity is punchy and the flavours are long." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

GOLD MEDAL - London Wine Competition 2022
SILVER - Sommeliers Choice Awards 2022
92pts "A poignant extension of the franchise we’ve come to enjoy: roast nuts, chocolate sauce, dark raspberry, crushed herbs, some inky iodine and even a little cherry ice cream. Class volume turned up a few notches with better concentration of fruit (still a little prickle) through the silky palate. Good persistence of flavour and lip smacking tannin. Said before and I’ll say it again, this needs big glasses and an open fire and you’re doing the bull dance in your happy place." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
2019
90pts "Barossa blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre. Yep, it’s another goodun’. Warm with alcohol for sure and showing some stressed herb characters but the fruit is solid and it feels silken in the mouth. Watch the alcohol, enjoy the taste the feel." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
90pts "This is just fun. It’s dark and inky and yet bright and delicious. There’s roast walnut autumnal depth with layers of herbed dark fruit and hints of spiritous alc prickling the nose (but it’s well within the charm quotient). Suave, with plump purple berries, nutty oak and a seaweed iodine tang. Tannins like a polar fleece throw rug. Big glasses. Roaring fireplace." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2018
92pts “A gluggable, sloshy, soft and fuller weight red showing strong perfume of sweet, berried fruit, choc-cherry characters, faint roast meats and licks of nougat and vanilla. It's such a charming wine, shows touches of sophistication in its smooth, even texture and finishes all with soft and fine tannins. This seems to punch above its weight, and overall drinks with friendliness.” - Mike Bennie, WBM
2017
91pts "Barossa blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre. Beautiful drink. It has a calm air about it. Raspberry, plum, chicory and earth flavours flow through the mouth. Nothing feels pushed, nothing feels rushed. It has just-enough texture without being syrupy. There’s a gentle ferrous note too. Good buying-drinking here." - The Wine Front
2016
90pts "54% grenache, 24% shiraz and 22% mourvedre. Spicy and fruit-driven, with the aromatic qualities of grenache leading the way as it often does in these blends. Raspberry, strawberry jam and sweet cherry are prominent in the flavour profile within the smoothly textured palate which glides easily along from start to finish, the lightest touch of tannin keeping it in shape." - Halliday Wine Companion
90/100 "Medium to full red colour with a trace of purple. The bouquet is earthy and lightly spicy, with an overriding note of charcoal or soot. The wine is medium to full-bodied and rich, with soft texture but drying qualities, the aftertaste big on pepper and meaty charcuterie notes. The wine is intense and firm and lingers well. A serious red wine with ageing potential." - Huon Hooke
90pts "Barossa blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre. Ready when you are. What it lacks in weight it makes up for in character. And drinkability. This is good for any occasion, any time. Red and black berried fruits, inlays of dry/sweet spice, a general savouriness but a clear run of juicy, anise-flashed fruit too. Pitch perfect." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
"A pitch perfect midweek quaffer with layers of sweetish fruit, spice, juiciness and general fun loving nature, this doesn't feel like it is trying to be too sophisticated, more a drink for those seeking early complexity in a neat, tidy, relatively simple framework. Slosh it around with abound, it's great." - Mike Bennie, WBM
2015
90/100 "It's not hard to see the appeal. It's only light to medium-bodied but the sweetness of aniseed, the rush of raspberry and the ripple of earthen spice notes lend plenty of hands to the wine's drinkability/deliciousness." - Halliday Wine Companion
2014
93/100 "Aniseed and blackberry jam flavours meet dry spice and clove. The combination is delicious. Lick of tannin keeps it all neat and tidy. High drinkability." - Halliday Wine Companion

SALVIS GRATIA* Barossa Old Vine Semillon 2022
Regular price $33.00SALVIS GRATIA* (meaning 'Saving Grace') is a small-batch labour-of-love, carefully hand harvested from some of the last remnants of the Madeira Semillon clone in the Barossa, planted by the Fechner brothers in 1983. SALVIS GRATIA* is an exciting addition to our 'Barossa Nouveau' series joining our established Old Vine Grenache stars Pax Aeterna and Lux Venit* Rosé. This series is all about championing these remnant Old Vine varietals that have always been special, but have sometimes fallen off the radar as new varietal fads come and go. SALVIS GRATIA* is a sublime, zesty, elegantly opulent expression of Barossa Semillon... it's an absolute ripper!

"Ultra-pale lemon and lime hues shine brightly through the glass. Waxed lemon and short crust pastry aromas. Light to medium in weight with beeswax, lemon zest and a touch of sherbet showing as it floats across the tongue. Good length and drive with bright yet supple acidity carrying it long to a crisp, dry finish with an attractive phenolic crunch." - Stuart Knox
93pts "Pale colour. Lifted exotic aromas; lemon curd, papaya, nectarine, tonic water, honey and subtle flinty overlay. Round and expressive with lemon curd, nectarine and tropical fruit notes. Wonderful mid-palate viscosity, creamy/lacy textures and an appealing honeyed acid line. Drink now and over the next couple of years." - Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal
93pts Silver "Light straw tones of Meyer lemon, spent yeast, honeysuckle, soft spice, lemon butter, clotted cream, crushed stone and white flowers. Textural, creamy and gloriously lemony with a swoop of gingerbread, roasted cashews and whey. Such lovely slinky drinking with a briny acid line that sets the saliva glands working and screams for a roast chook." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion 22nd May 2023
93pts "Medium pale lemon hue. Picks up where the 2021 left off with lemon curd and roast chicken skin, honeysuckle, candle wax and gingernut biscuit. Depth and heft: oak and lees work give creamy, leesy richness with ginger spice, fine phenolics and zesty citrus cuts. That briny signature leaves the palate in a dichotomy: salivating and refreshed both at once. Unique and worthy." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
"Brilliant, youthful yellow, with lemon zest, pastry, knife through cold butter aromas. Medium-weight, chunk of a glass of wine. Hits your pallet and doesn't forgive. Tangy with viscosity and lime, lemon, ruby grapefruit, green apple skin and powdery tannins. Flash of Solo, the original thirst crusher. That's Aussie soda 😉! So looong it touches my toes. Old vine Barossa sem. 2022. Benchmark stuff." - @frasermackenzie.wine
2021
SILVER - 2022 Barossa Wine Show
93pts "Medium pale lemon hue. Lemon curd, malt biscuit, ginger, roast nuts, roast chicken briny tang and with slightly sweeter structures of honeysuckle and birthday candle. Refreshing yet complex. The oak work giving nutty nuance with chewy phenolics while the well built fruit is ginger spiced, citrus focused and dry. There’s a very good counterpoint of weight and acidity creating a fundamentally delicious drink." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
93pts "Barossa Valley old vine semillon, done right. Gosh this is good. It sees some oak and so, accordingly, it has some texture, but the flavour profile is all fruit, and all good. Brine, honeysuckle, citrus and stonefruit characters all get a good run here, the palate full-ish and the finish long. The perfume, the flavour, the feel; all are in tip-top nick here. I particularly love the briney aftertaste here, it just begs to be teamed with food." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
92pts "An unusually wine-y and waxy, rich and textural style of semillon, but this also has an impressive freshness on the well-proportioned palate with quite an exciting interplay of creaminess and limey acidity. Wild fermented partly in French oak puncheons, then aged 6 months on the lees. Unfined. Vegan. Drink or hold. Screw cap." - James Suckling
90pts "Pale and bright straw-yellow colour. Lemon curd, lime zest and caramelised cashews on the nose. The palate fills and builds texture as it flows, sweet lime and lemon fruit notes alongside a smoky and nutty spice line. Quite full for a semillon and it works." - Stuart Knox, The Real Review

91pts "Just a hint of redcurrant and a spicy note appear on the shy nose. The palate adds a riper, rounder tone to this, reminiscent of bottled strawberry that is both mellow and gently aromatic. There is a yeasty texture, too, that lends gentleness to the dry finish." - Falstaff International Global Rosé Trophy
90pts "Lush, textural style. Dry and spicy. A little alcohol heat pokes through; just a little. Pale, pale copper in colour. Orange jelly and raspberry, earth and spice. Almost a saline-like note here, as a positive. Serious style. Needs food. Something tapas-y." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
2020
93/100 "Medium salmon hue. Lifted red fruits: strawberry and raspberry with a dash of peach cream and savoury spice. Profound and serious palate, rich with the aforementioned red fruits, yet retaining lightness and energy through the long dry finish." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
93/100 "Light to medium intense salmon-pink colour. Red cherries, cinnamon and anise spices lift from the glass. Quite deep and powerful with berry fruits and spices layered among notes of wood shavings and prosciutto." - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
2019
93/100 "Daniel and Theo apparently sang to it while it matured in barrel. Coral pink. This is an energetic wine, with a cool dusky musk base, replete with raspberry crystals and light peach stone fruit inferences. Wonderfully textural and refreshing, this is a cut above." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
93/100 "Strawberries and their leaves on the aromatics. Brightness and intensity on the palate entry, good acid and a touch of phenolic crunch keeps the flow to the back, and there's a creaminess to finish" - Stuart Knox, The Real Review

92pts •"It took grenache roughly 150 years to become an overnight success in Australia but the glory days of Aussie grenache are upon us. This release is fresh, delicate, laced with dry spice and tannin, juicy with fruit, and high in drinkability. It feels authentic because it is. Raspberry characters with a glow to them. Earth notes inlaid. Everything on firm/sure tippy toes, ballerina-like, elevated and exact. There’s texture here too, warm texture, silk fresh from the ironing board, treated right. A lovely drink, it is." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
2020
91pts "A bold, rich, raspberry-fruited style that has round and easygoing, fleshy texture. The palate has generous raspberries and red plums. Approachable and easygoing. Drink now. Screw cap." - James Suckling Reviews
2019
92pts "Bright raspberries and some florals here with a fresh, intense impression on the nose, leading to a ripe, supple palate that has plenty of ripe, smooth, raspberry and red-plum flavor. Fresh, flavorful and fun style." - James Suckling Reviews
90pts "Old vine grenache. 27% whole bunches. Fresh and free-flowing. Emphasis on raspberry/redcurrant flavour with earthen spice and clove whispered through. Light on its feet. Delicious to drink." - The Wine Front
91pts "Medium to light purple/red colour, with a youthful, slightly sweaty and somewhat raw strawberry, raspberry aroma. The wine is medium-bodied and easy on the palate, rich and gentle and finishing with some firmness. A very pleasant wine for what it is: a lighter-weighted, balanced, fruit-forward red for earlier drinking. The light colour is deceptive. There's a hint of carbonic maceration and this confers a passing resemblance to Beaujolais. Delicious." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
2018
"Light and fresh, strawberry, floral, spicy, slightly smoky and reductive. Fine and red fruited, soft but balanced acidity, tastes (and feels) like whole bunch spice here, with subtle stickiness, light emery tannin, and a savory finish, which is tasty, though not especially long. Stylish." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
2017
90/100 "83yo vines from the Kevin Schild Vineyard at Light Pass, fermented with 33% whole bunches. Light and bright to the point of rose; strawberry/raspberry/red cherry flavours and the barest hint of tannins. I suspect it didn't meet up with any form of oak during its vinification." - James Halliday, Halliday
92pts "Perfumed and pretty to kick off - then the meat on bones. It's a plush grenache, a little more meat on bones, but has a savoury lick and a freshness underlying that assists drinkability. Feels like quality from the get go. Great drink" - Mike Bennie, WBM
92pts "Grown by Kevin Schild at Light Pass in the northern Barossa. 33% whole bunches. Unfined and unfiltered. Cloudy in a good way. Freeflowing and tense at once. An unfettered wine, free in its expression, ripped with spice and cranberry, anise and general woody spices. There’s a gentle twigginess here but it washes straight through. Energy. Crunch. Almost crisp. The red wine equivalent of frost. Have to admire it." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
"Chaffey Bros Wine Co Pax Aeterna Old Vine Barossa Nouveau, Australia 2017 (£17.95, Great Western Wine) I’m not always one for choosing wine by grape variety on its own. More usually it’s the region and producer that come first in my decision-making hierarchy. But one variety I do keep coming back to at the moment is grenache. That might be because I’m making up for lost time: I wasn’t always in love with grenache, made as a single-variety (it was different when it was blended, as it often is in southern France, with syrah and others). It could be a little bit too liberal with its natural assets, those great gushing geysers of soft-tannined, dark ripe berry fruit and alcohol. These days, however, you’re as likely to find grenache in more gentle mode: still soft, but pale, refreshing – even, on occasion elegant, and certainly, in the case of Chaffey Bros’s supple, spicy, young vine from old vines, refreshing." - David William, The Guardian
"Grenache is the thing right now, and this wine takes it to another level of generational change in thinking and style... The style is far out to the youthful side of the Grenache spectrum yet still retains good tension, flavour and structure - and it's bloody delicious" - Tony Love

Adelaide Review's Hot 100 Wines "Beautifully lithe and supple. Finely framed, poised and precise."
93pts "Bang on. Both fresh and characterful. Not at all overdone – indeed it’s only light- to medium-weight – and yet there’s enough power to the fruit to make an impression. It’s made to be fresh and accessible and yet it pays homage to the age of the vines; it lets tension in through the front door. Sand, red and black cherry, graphite, cloves and rusty dry spices. A leathery, licoricey kick to the finish. Just enough tannin. Poise, presentation, the lot." Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
93/100 "Of all things, a nouveau-style made from 82yo vines with 25% whole bunches in the fermentation, so it adds up to a light, bright, juicy and youthful drink, yet distinctive. Sweet raspberry and red licorice, woodsy spices with lightweight tannins and hits the right note." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday
ELIJAH* Fechner Vineyard Eden Valley Shiraz 2021 *Halliday 95pts*
Regular price $78.00Ten years ago we began our search for a truly iconic Barossa Shiraz vineyard. We are now excited to reveal the sixth vintage of ELIJAH* Eden Valley Shiraz!
It hails from the revered Fechner brothers’ Moculta vineyard in the Northern Eden Valley. It is a powerful wine incorporating new French oak from France’s oldest family cooperage, Leroi.
How will this evolve over time?
Elijah is a powerhouse showcase of the Eden Valley, a unique combination of elegance and intensity, powerful fruit with structure. My conviction and experience is that a wine that shows balance and dense structure early on will make for an age worthy wine worth cellaring. Elijah's layered tannins and brooding, dense nature will become even more complex with a further five to 10 years in the cellar." - Halliday's 2024 Cellaring Edition

"The 2021 Barossa vintage continues to deliver the goods! Sporting a super vibrant colour in the glass and detailed aromas of juicy plum, blueberry, exotic spice, wildflowers, dark chocolate, liquorice, vanillin oak, turned earth and charcuterie. Velvety plush in the mouth with powdery tannin and a wonderful fruit presence and flow; long and true. It's a cracker." - Dave Brookes, Halliday

95pts "Deep colour and a meaty/spicy/toasty and roast meat bouquet that is quite complex already. Some floral and regional dried herb notes, hinting at thyme and oregano. The wine is full bodied and concentrated, with ample firm tannins supplying structure and ageing potential. A serious red with loads of character." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
94pts "Deep, purple-splashed crimson with notes of dark blackberry and ripe dark plums. Hints of baking spices, sage, black pepper, cassis, dark chocolate and graphite. There's a cassis-like richness to the fruit flow, densely packed granitic tannins and a chocolatey tide on the deep, black-fruited finish" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
93pts "Deep crimson. Fresh and complex wine with intense mulberry dark chocolate, mocha aromas. Concentrated mulberry, blackberry jam flavours, fine chocolaty / cedar tannins and layered mocha/ vanilla notes. Finishes grippy firm with very good length. Now-2030." - The Vintage Journal
92pts "A delicious and bright syrah with purple fruits, subtle black pepper and some dried flowers. Medium body. Fine tannins and a medium fruity finish." - James Suckling
2019
95pts "Really youthful, deep and dark in the glass. Intense aromatics of blood plum, dark chocolate, vanilla bean, licorice, bouquet garni and Asian spice. The palate is opulently flavoured: really dark, plummy fruits, blackberries, chocolate, and layered. There's some lovely oak that plays it part as well. There's plenty going on in this wine: it is decadently flavoured, but the tannins and acidity do their thing and make sure the fruit behaves" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
95pts "Flagship wine from the higher Eden Valley, Polished and dark, Blackberry, clack cherry, sandalwood, incense smoke with vanila bean paste and mushroom fin earthiness." - Regan Drew, Wine Words
94pts "It’s the one wine in the Chaffey range that I routinely struggle with but this release is a ripper. It’s big and throaty but it’s creamy smooth too; it has both grain and slip, its inherent, grunty tannin rolling through asphalt, blackberry, gum leaf and toast. It’s both big on flavour and big on quality. This has been pushed to its limits, and has noticeable warm alcohol to show for it, but it remains complete and convincing." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
SILVER - 2021 International Wine Challenge (London) "Ripe, intense blackberry fruit, a rich mouthful of ripe tannins and super-concentrated fruit. Spicy oak, very full-bodied with a powerful finish."

GOLD - 95pts International Wine Challenge (London) "Youthful with smoke and black fruit. Dark, intense, concentrated, velvety tannins. Soft-toned with notes of spice, blackfruit and dark cherry."
94pts "Inky, deep and dark red of blackcurrant fruit, booze-soaked berries, walnut whiffs and sweet spice. Lavish, lush texture, rolls around the palate nicely, lingers for what seems forever and has all that hustle of a big red wrapped in a velvety cloak of goodness. One for the big red lovers, but those who know the tightrope walk of flavour, freshness and winemaking balance" - Mike Bennie for WBM
93pts "This takes a bold, dark and rich stance on the nose and palate with chocolate, dark-plum and graphite aromas, leading to a ripe dark-berry core that is framed in long, supple and even tannins." - James Suckling
92/100 "Deep, dark red colour with purple and black tinges. The bouquet is high-toned - as in volatile acidity (VA) and/or lifted alcohol, while it's full-bodied and dense, with a lot of tannin and chew and loads of grunt. A big wine. The VA is not a problem except for purists and technocrats and it would respond well to extended cellaring." - Huon Hooke
2015
96pts "Deep colour and a rich, complex, earthy bouquet which features smoky, char-oak and other savoury nuances. There is terrific flavour here and excellent depth and weight. The wine is balanced and stylish, with savoury and fruit-sweet elements perfectly balanced. Black plums and savoury notes. The finish lingers on and on. A stylish and individual style of shiraz, and a gorgeous drink." - Huon Hooke

93pts "Sourced from an old-vine (35+ years) riesling vineyard in Springton in the Eden Valley. Pale straw in the glass with characters of freshly squeezed lime juice with hints of Christmas lily, crushed stone, lemon zest and lighter notes of freshly cut fennel and marzipan. Voluminous yet precise with a clean, swift cadence over the palate and a wonderful air of purity and zest. Jeez, it's lovely drinking." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
90pts "Very pale lemon and lime tints with white flowers, grapefruit, and shortcrust pastry aromatics. A richer, more textural style of riesling that still sits with citrus and tropical fruit but has a density and savoury pastry tone through the core that sets it apart. Acidity is soft but does drive and the long finish is still mostly dry." - Stuart Knox, The Real review
90pts "Lime flesh and apple skin with slap in the face freshness of sea spray, a suggestion of rosewater, “Nice” biscuit, coriander and green leaves. Cuddly and generous fleshy feels tempered with a little grainy phenolics and puckering green apple acidity giving a fine drive. No need to overthink it. Ready to cut through tempura battered fish and chips or trays full of pot stickers." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

95pts "Expressive nose, delicacy on the palate with underlying power, an almost exotically floral finish. Soft with a steely core." - Julia Sewell, Decanter
95pts "Hints of tropics, touch of banana, fresh acidity, some citrus peel, zing & zang, gentle jasmine & some herbaceous characters." - Roger Jones, Decanter
91/100 "Super-fine, fresh citrus aromas with apple and lime, too. The palate has a soft, juicy feel with open-knit pear and apple, as well as lime. Drink now. Screw cap." – James Suckling
90pts “Flavour-full Riesling. Doesn’t shy away and be all coy like “come back in 20 years time and maaaaaaybe I’ll be ready.” That’s not to say it won’t last that long. Probably will. But chances are there won’t be any left to try as it will have all been drunk. Sliced apples, juiced limes, hints of richer green pear too. A suggestion of saline sea spray and a hint of rosewater. Some grip and width through the front of the palate but the right amount of tight, tense intense citrus to close. Bring all the dumplings.” - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2020
91/100 "Bright, ripe-peach and lemon with hints of melon here, too. The palate has a very crisp, vibrant and elegant feel with intense, attractive peach flavour." – James Suckling
90/100 "Fragrant aromas of bath salts, talc, lime leaf and slate. Crunchy, pithy and lemony, and there's a lovely soft acidity that makes for a really approachable, smart glass of riesling" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
92/100 "Light, bright yellow colour, with a green kaffir lime and crushed herb aromas, the palate delicate and refined, with tension and length and a trace of phenolic grip that adds to its texture and persistence. A tickle of sweetness, too. Slaty, fine and long." - Huon Hooke, The real Review

93pts "Pale salmon in the glass with notes of redcurrant, raspberry, blood orange and red cherry wrapped in the embrace of some high-toned blossom flourishes along with hints of marzipan and crushed stone and maybe some Turkish delight further in the distance. Snappy and tight on the palate with a touch of tangerine peel and soft spice entering the mixing as the wine finishes crisp and vital thanks to a seam of shimmering acidity. Pretty hard to put this one down" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
90pts "This is fresh and crunchy with nectarines, pink cherries and rose petals on the nose. Medium-bodied, clean and polished with a delicious stone fruit character and sleek, mineral finish." - James Suckling

#5 & Top Australian Rosé - Falstaff International Global Rosé Trophy
91pts "It’s made with grenache and mourvèdre and it’s pretty much always good. It’s pale copper-orange in colour and it’s both spicy and textural to taste. It has a core of raspberry and earth-like flavour with top notes of orange jelly and violet. It’s both as refreshing and as delicious as you’d want and hope it to be." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
91pts "A light salmon-pink colour. A nose of thyme, raspberry, and fresh pastries. Sweet red fruits on the palate-entry meld into a hint of herbs and supple spices. There’s a weight and density that sets this up as a food-friendly style. The acidity is soft yet guides it long" - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
91pts "Pale salmon/coral hue. Raspberry and musk sticks with a spearmint leaf like herbaceous note, just unwrapped Turkish delight, a little pink salt and papaya too. Inherently drinkable. The Chaffey Bros team have produced a wine that has all the things you want from a rosé: Texture and vibrancy; crispness and freshness without forsaking depth of flavour or showing a thin, wan palate. Fun!" - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook

"Barossa Valley Rose Winery of the Year" - Melbourne International Wine Competition 2020
2019
92pts "Faint strawberry, cherry notes, sweet blood orange characters. Slick texture, good finish, glides and refreshes, everything very gentle and even. Rose 101, maybe a bit more advanced, but has that huge drinkability feel. Right on." - Mike Bennie
90/100 "Bright, light, fresh pink colour with purple tints, the bouquet fresh, clean, brightly aromatic and alluring. The wine is soft and fruity, balanced and shaped to suit a lot of people's palates. A tickle of sweetness is well managed. A lovely everyday rosé. It was obviously very early-picked, but there is no greenness." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
2018
17.25/20 "Rose gold/copper hue. chalk and musk sticks with white peach, light strawberry and raspberry cordial juice. Rounded musky, Turkish Delight fruit profile which stays tight and focused throughout the palate. White stonefruit, hints of red apple along side the fine-herbey red berry fruit, all driven to a juicy finish." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook

92pts and Red Star for value "In perfect drinking shape. Dry, racy with acidity and flavoursome at once. Raspberry and rosehip with cuts of apple and anise. Gets you in a mind for food." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "Very clever, and interesting. Has a slight sweatiness over musk, redcurrant and raspberry, a scattering of dried herb in the background. Light bodied, crisp and fresh, pretty red fruit flavour, pleasing mouth-perfume, a dusting of talc-like texture, an almost limey finish. Nicely done. Good drink." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
2016
92/100 "A pale pink-salmon colour that excites as much as the flavours of musk, rose hip, raspberries and cherries with lemon sorbet-like acidity and a lick of sweetness to finish." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday
2015
91/100 "Grenache and mourvedre. Slight spritz. Funk, earth, spice and leather, with cranberry/raspberry fruit crashing over the top. Loads up but then finishes dry. It works." - Campbell Mattison, Halliday
2014
90/100 "69% old vine grenache, 29% old vine mourvedre and 2% gewurztraminer, riesling and weisser herold. Fragrant and fruity, the power of suggestion of the 2% giving some citrus, offset by perceptible residual sugar (7.3g/l), in turn balanced by low pH; the other fruit flavours are in the red spectrum, but not particularly intense." - Halliday

91pts "A grenache mourvèdre concoction for chilling is obviously a very good thing. It's packed with red cherry and juicy plum fruits with a touch of blood orange, some bunchy spice and amaro and another whole bunch of "pourmeanotherglassness". Great fun drinking. We need more of these styles." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts " It’s a smashable red that tastes just smashing. It’s made with Barossa grenache and mourvedre and it’s kind of mid-coloured and mid-flavoured, if that makes sense; it’s not rose-like but it’s not full-bodied either, its cherry-plum-earth-anise characters running friskily through the palate, offering just-enough texture and decent-enough depth to keep everyone happy. Great style of wine, and well executed." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
90/100 "Lovely deep, garnet hue. Signature floral potpourri and rose petal, cola essence, red berries and earthy blue gravel. Plush and slurpable up front with easy structure, just enough grip, a crunchy finish and a good tang of peppery stalky spice. The fruit quality is evident without sacrificing the fun." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

90/100 "Pale ruby to purple colour in the glass. Redcurrants and rose petals on the nose. Bright, juicy and crunchy on the palate. Built more around acidity than tannins for structure. A unique and quite delicious version of grenache. Would be best served with a little chill." - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
Deep cerise to toffee apple red in hue. Cool, herbed nose with red currant, blue plum, hints of cola, gravel and floral potpourri. Crunchy and vibrant palate with just a hint of grip but plenty of cut. A cheeky and delightful wine" - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

91pts "Bright pale lemon-yellow tint. Papaya, sweet spice and talcum aromatics. A fuller style of riesling with plump lime and green papaya fruit. 94pts “A tart, tense web of crackling acidity, there’s juiciness and a sense of very high drinkability. Sourdough, ginger and preserved lemon scents. Quite rich and forward in perfume but wholly appealing. Green apple and ripe citrus fruit characters with nutty savouriness in tow. Seriously appealing, savoury style.” - Mike Bennie, Gourmet Traveller Wine

93pts "Made for texture and complexity, this has a thread of wet slate to the abundant, fine and fresh lemon-peel and peach aromas. The palate is very smooth, soft and almost fleshy with an edge of fresh, lemon-lime acidity cutting a crisp, pure finish." - James Suckling Reviews
91/100 "Light, bright yellow colour, with a restrained but clean aroma that is mineral and earthy, and only lightly floral or fruity. The wine shows more fruit on the palate where it is soft and rounded, not entirely bone-dry, but lovely balance is the overall impression. There is real richness to the follow-through, enhanced by a touch of tannin grip." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

93/100 "Pale yellow colour, with a lifted fragrance of fresh flowers and whispers of citrus blossoms. The wine is just off-dry, the sweetness helping make it more approachable at this tender age. It's very young and bright, will live long and reward cellaring, and it is delicious now. The balance is superb." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
92/100 "Refreshing and delicate nose: delivering damp stones, citrus pith (both mandarin and lime), apple flesh with plenty of light floral blossom and a hint of sweeter honeysuckle. Dry, and showing fine purity as the fruit tails into a textural, structural exploration. Acidity is bright and bracing, leaving a balanced juxtaposition of refreshment and thirst." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
90pts "Bright, floral, fresh, slightly soapy, some apple concentrate and lime essence stuff going on, feels a bit concocted and non-grape fruity but also settles into being a decent drink, adult cordial style. Mouth-watering acidity a lovely feature and finishes the wine really well. Decent drinking." - The Wine Front
Top Picks “Attractive aromas of beeswax, toast, lime zest and ginger. Perhaps some skin contact at work here with a pithy viscosity and a richness to the palate. The racy acidity and talc notes reign in the fruit to give a long, persistent and drying finish.” - Justin Purser, Young Gun of Wine
2018
93/100 "Very light, bright yellow hue. The aroma is fresh and bright also, with lovely crisp lemon-blossom notes, the palate is juicy and refined, off-dry, delicate and yet also intense with quite good persistence, the finish clean and appetising. It's not overly dry, but harmonious and approachable. A very smart riesling." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
91pts "Old vine riesling grown on three Eden Valley sites: Springton, Flaxman Valley, Angaston Hills. Such a fine-boned release. It’s not an intense wine but it runs on such delicious lines. Florals and talc, mineral and cool cucumber. Or something like that. Chilled on a warm day; perfect." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

Flavours of ripe red apple and nectarine, a thread of sweetness just perceptible but skilfully woven into the fabric of the wine." - Steven Creber, Halliday
93pts "Exquisite riesling. Floral fluid, gently textural, bursting with life, pure. Slatey, gunmetal-like character meets lemon sorbet and an assortment of florals. It's as delicious as it is fine." - Campbell Mattison, The Wine Front
93pts "Light to mid yellow colour, very fresh looking for its years, the bouquet lightly browned, buttered toast and a whiff of dried flowers and dried lemon peels. Waxy aromas too. The palate is very dry and firmed up by judicious phenolics, the finish long and slightly grippy but supple and not astringent. Very smart mature riesling." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

92pts "Soft. Some spritz. Minerally, smoky, almost yeasty. A different expression of Eden Valley riesling in a way and yet there’s a clear, pure, citrussy line, a touch of talc and a general impression of reserve. It’s hard not to become enamoured. Sweetness here is modest at most. Basically it just drinks really well" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
91/100 "It takes time to get into this because it's not a classic Eden Valley riesling - whole-bunch pressed after 18 hours on skins. Instead it has a savoury tone, texture and chewy phenolics, a smidge of cinnamon, star anise and glace lemon rind." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday

93/100 "Three Eden Valley vineyards, handpicked, half of the crop spending time on skins. 6g/l residual sugar. Presents as delicate but lengthy with lime rind/juice and slate flavours floating convincingly through the palate. Gently textural. More soft than sweet. Beautiful style of wine." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday
