Ten years ago we began our search for a truly iconic Barossa Shiraz vineyard. We are now excited to reveal the sixth vintage of ELIJAH* Eden Valley Shiraz! 
It hails from the revered Fechner brothers’ Moculta vineyard in the Northern Eden Valley. It is a powerful wine incorporating new French oak from France’s oldest family cooperage, Leroi.

How will this evolve over time?
Elijah is a powerhouse showcase of the Eden Valley, a unique combination of elegance and intensity, powerful fruit with structure. My conviction and experience is that a wine that shows balance and dense structure early on will make for an age worthy wine worth cellaring. The wine’s opaque black-red colour tells us that generosity is on the menu, and the first sniff shows that not only is its black cherry and plum fruit prodigiously aromatic, but also that the wine has had more than a year in oak. The plunging fruit – blackberry and blackcurrant – dominates the palate with the oak providing a little extra upholstery; and there’s a haunting citrus and lavender perfume on the palate, too, which does as much to structure the wine as the ample, gentle tannins and the curranty acidity. Single Vineyard Eden Valley Syrah from a dry-grown vineyard set on the Drögemüller family’s original Springton orchard. Highly perfumed it shows wild forest berries & white pepper aromas and a complex palate of fresh Black Berries, peppercorns and refreshing Morello cherries.

Since a vinuous pilgrimage to Spain in 2013, we have been on a quest to make the perfect roblé-style Spanish blend. 2022 marks the year when we think we've really hit our stride with these varietals, and so it was time for a costume-change to introduce to you our best La Conquista! to date.

Tempranillo parcels from Gomersal on the Western ridge and Moculta Graciano to increase the lift, matured for eight months in seasoned French puncheons and Hogshead barrels, then blended with old-vine Garnacha from 50+ year old vines in the Lyndoch foothills, giving the ripe juicy fruit needed to flesh out the structure of Tempranillo’s complex and savoury fruit. The final blend is tempranillo, graciano, and old vine garnacha, or TGG. Cherry and cola aromas mingle with hints of chocolate and spicy florals. A dark yet luminous crimson colour hints at the rich semi-savoury dark cherry and cola palate that finishes with a hint of red cherry juiciness.
