Special Value 92pts "Freshly squeezed lime, lemon and grapefruit with hints of green apple sorbet, orange blossom, crushed quartz, lime zest and lemongrass. Dry and savoury on the palate with a nice textural shift and a precise finish that's both stony and limey at once. I really like the palate shape here, all sleek, composed and tautly stretched" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
2023
2022
93pts "Sourced from an old-vine (35+ years) riesling vineyard in Springton in the Eden Valley. Pale straw in the glass with characters of freshly squeezed lime juice with hints of Christmas lily, crushed stone, lemon zest and lighter notes of freshly cut fennel and marzipan. Voluminous yet precise with a clean, swift cadence over the palate and a wonderful air of purity and zest. Jeez, it's lovely drinking." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
90pts "Lime flesh and apple skin with slap in the face freshness of sea spray, a suggestion of rosewater, “Nice” biscuit, coriander and green leaves. Cuddly and generous fleshy feels tempered with a little grainy phenolics and puckering green apple acidity giving a fine drive. No need to overthink it. Ready to cut through tempura battered fish and chips or trays full of pot stickers." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
2021
95pts "Lovely bright perfume, freshly squeezed limes, a dash of rose, a salty, maritime lift. A sumptuous feel, textured & round. A touch of bergamot & a soft feathery touch. Forward, but will age nicely." - Justin Knock, Decanter
95pts "Expressive nose, delicacy on the palate with underlying power, an almost exotically floral finish. Soft with a steely core." - Julia Sewell, Decanter
95pts "Hints of tropics, touch of banana, fresh acidity, some citrus peel, zing & zang, gentle jasmine & some herbaceous characters." - Roger Jones, Decanter

The first of our much anticipated 2025 vintage releases is here and we have to say - she’s spectacular! This will go down as one of the best releases of our top selling,
NOT YOUR GRANDMA’S ROSÉ.
The ethereal pink beauty inside is exactly what you have come to expect from this fan fave: light salmon in colour with a faint blush of pink, the delicate floral perfume teases at the strawberries & cream and pink guava on the palate. Tastes just like a sunny first day of a long awaited holiday!
We have also given her pretty pink label just the slightest of face lifts to perfectly frame this timeless beauty perfectly in keeping with the elegance and sophistication found within.
This wine appeared in the top six wines on the day for both Visser and Baxter. Visser described it as pouring “a gorgeous copper glow. The aromas are gentle but purposeful, with fresh and dried apricot and peach drifting up as if they’ve been waiting patiently to impress you – and they do. The fruit is pure and clean, nothing overdone – just ripe, golden stone fruit – think ripe peach and fleshy nectarine – doing its thing. The palate follows through with that same balance: rich but not heavy, juicy but not sweet. A lovely line of acidity keeps everything lifted and bright, while the finish leans ever so slightly savoury, adding a grown-up twist to all that fruit-forward charm. It’s the kind of wine that feels perfectly poised – not shouting, not trying too hard, just quietly delicious. Like that friend who always knows exactly what to bring to dinner without even asking. Drink it when the sun’s still up but dinner’s almost ready. It’s got enough zip to keep you refreshed, and enough depth to hold your attention – especially with something salty or a little smoky on the side.” Baxter called it “a perfect example of what might happen if Provence rosé and traditional Italian rosato had a baby. It’s textural, but clean and fresh, driven but pale in colour, expressive but dry. It blooms with Japanese white strawberry, white grapefruit, ripe Meyer lemon, wild pink flowers, and orange-infused Turkish Delight. The palate is bright, bursting with lychee, Granny Smith apple, white peach and essence of roses – complex and so succulent. It finishes fresh, with a rigid and piercing texture, its austerity softened by a tiny kiss of sugar.”
The Real Review - TOP VALUE WINES OF 2025!
Pale salmon in the glass with the lightest of copper washes and notes of blood orange, redcurrant and raspberry alongside hints of wildflowers, stone and dried citrus rinds, while Turkish delight is back in the distance. Savoury and lipsmacking in its delivery on the palate, with plenty of minerally drive and energy, there is a lot to like here. Dave Brookes - Halliday Wine Companion
GOLD + 95pts - Melbourne Royal Wine Awards 2022
90pts "This is fresh and crunchy with nectarines, pink cherries and rose petals on the nose. Medium-bodied, clean and polished with a delicious stone fruit character and sleek, mineral finish." - James Suckling
2021
#5 & Top Australian Rosé - Falstaff International Global Rosé Trophy
91pts "It’s made with grenache and mourvèdre and it’s pretty much always good. It’s pale copper-orange in colour and it’s both spicy and textural to taste. It has a core of raspberry and earth-like flavour with top notes of orange jelly and violet. It’s both as refreshing and as delicious as you’d want and hope it to be." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
91pts "A light salmon-pink colour. A nose of thyme, raspberry, and fresh pastries. Sweet red fruits on the palate-entry meld into a hint of herbs and supple spices. There’s a weight and density that sets this up as a food-friendly style. The acidity is soft yet guides it long" - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
91pts "Pale salmon/coral hue. Raspberry and musk sticks with a spearmint leaf like herbaceous note, just unwrapped Turkish delight, a little pink salt and papaya too. Inherently drinkable. The Chaffey Bros team have produced a wine that has all the things you want from a rosé: Texture and vibrancy; crispness and freshness without forsaking depth of flavour or showing a thin, wan palate. Fun!" - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2020
"Barossa Valley Rose Winery of the Year" - Melbourne International Wine Competition 2020
2019
92pts "Faint strawberry, cherry notes, sweet blood orange characters. Slick texture, good finish, glides and refreshes, everything very gentle and even. Rose 101, maybe a bit more advanced, but has that huge drinkability feel. Right on." - Mike Bennie
90/100 "Bright, light, fresh pink colour with purple tints, the bouquet fresh, clean, brightly aromatic and alluring. The wine is soft and fruity, balanced and shaped to suit a lot of people's palates. A tickle of sweetness is well managed. A lovely everyday rosé. It was obviously very early-picked, but there is no greenness." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
2018
17.25/20 "Rose gold/copper hue. chalk and musk sticks with white peach, light strawberry and raspberry cordial juice. Rounded musky, Turkish Delight fruit profile which stays tight and focused throughout the palate. White stonefruit, hints of red apple along side the fine-herbey red berry fruit, all driven to a juicy finish." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2017
92pts and Red Star for value "In perfect drinking shape. Dry, racy with acidity and flavoursome at once. Raspberry and rosehip with cuts of apple and anise. Gets you in a mind for food." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "Very clever, and interesting. Has a slight sweatiness over musk, redcurrant and raspberry, a scattering of dried herb in the background. Light bodied, crisp and fresh, pretty red fruit flavour, pleasing mouth-perfume, a dusting of talc-like texture, an almost limey finish. Nicely done. Good drink." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
2016
92/100 "A pale pink-salmon colour that excites as much as the flavours of musk, rose hip, raspberries and cherries with lemon sorbet-like acidity and a lick of sweetness to finish." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday
2015
91/100 "Grenache and mourvedre. Slight spritz. Funk, earth, spice and leather, with cranberry/raspberry fruit crashing over the top. Loads up but then finishes dry. It works." - Campbell Mattison, Halliday
2014
90/100 "69% old vine grenache, 29% old vine mourvedre and 2% gewurztraminer, riesling and weisser herold. Fragrant and fruity, the power of suggestion of the 2% giving some citrus, offset by perceptible residual sugar (7.3g/l), in turn balanced by low pH; the other fruit flavours are in the red spectrum, but not particularly intense." - Halliday

91pts "A grenache mourvèdre concoction for chilling is obviously a very good thing. It's packed with red cherry and juicy plum fruits with a touch of blood orange, some bunchy spice and amaro and another whole bunch of "pourmeanotherglassness". Great fun drinking. We need more of these styles." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "
It’s a smashable red that tastes just smashing. It’s made with Barossa grenache and mourvedre and it’s kind of mid-coloured and mid-flavoured, if that makes sense; it’s not rose-like but it’s not full-bodied either, its cherry-plum-earth-anise characters running friskily through the palate, offering just-enough texture and decent-enough depth to keep everyone happy. Great style of wine, and well executed." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
90/100 "Lovely deep, garnet hue. Signature floral potpourri and rose petal, cola essence, red berries and earthy blue gravel. Plush and slurpable up front with easy structure, just enough grip, a crunchy finish and a good tang of peppery stalky spice. The fruit quality is evident without sacrificing the fun." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
2020
90/100 "Pale ruby to purple colour in the glass. Redcurrants and rose petals on the nose. Bright, juicy and crunchy on the palate. Built more around acidity than tannins for structure. A unique and quite delicious version of grenache. Would be best served with a little chill." - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
Deep cerise to toffee apple red in hue. Cool, herbed nose with red currant, blue plum, hints of cola, gravel and floral potpourri. Crunchy and vibrant palate with just a hint of grip but plenty of cut. A cheeky and delightful wine" - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

After hitting the highest of highs winning “Best in Show” with our Evangeline Eden Valley Syrah in last year’s Decanter World Wine Awards, we decided it was time to shine a light on our La Résistance Old Vine GSM. We are thrilled to see the judges agree! 2023 La Résistance Barossa GSM has taken out a coveted GOLD award at the 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) and is the top scoring GSM of the awards this year!
For 10 years we've been on a quest to make the perfect Barossa GSM... and in 2023 we reckon we've nailed it. It's generous, juicy, balanced & refined... a wine fit for any occasion and any crowd!
Old Vine Grenache is the hero of our Barossa GSM. Elegant Syrah and spicy Mourvèdre add their signature definition and structure to this harmonious ensemble. 9 months Elevage in seasoned (3 - 8yr old) French oak Hogsheads support deep-fruited, dark cherry, strawberry and mineral laden (graphite/ferrous) palate with a lovely savoury lick of supple fine-grain tannin. Gentle refreshing acidity gives great line and drives the brooding and delicious fruit through to a lingering finish.
GSM = Rhone inspired Barossa Blend. Enjoy with your best spag bol recipe, chargrilled/barbecued meats, or take roast veggies to new heights.
History: A vinous rematch of the famous 1811 battle at Barrosa Ridge where Spain and France collided. La Résistance! takes up the fight for the traditional French varieties of the Barossa and pitches gnarly old vine Grenache, Syrah & Mourvèdre into defence against the invading foreign marauders.
Winemakers: Daniel Chaffey Hartwig + Huon Fechner + Theo Engela
2022
92pts "Tea cake spices, cuddly dark red plum and cherry fruits, rose petals, nutty sweet oak influence kissed by char and a stony turned earth base. Initial fruit generosity gets bound by tension and focus. Firm tannins and refreshing, cooling acidity cleaning up the tail replete with red fruit and dried petal echoes. Match up with lamb steaks or put it in the cellar for a couple of years." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

91pts "There's a lot of enjoyment in this slinky grenache, syrah and mourvèdre blend that bursts out of the gates with a tide of ripe macerated satsuma plum, raspberry and boysenberry fruits. Asian spice is layered beneath the fruit with hints of turned earth, pressed flowers, ginger cake and a chocolate-coated cherry vibe. The tannins melt into the fruit and there is a bright acid pulse and an impressive savoury slide on the finish." - Dave Brooks, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "This is a succulent red blend with a fresh array of strawberries, peppercorns, plums, violets and tea leaves on the nose. Medium-bodied with creamy tannins. Bright and gently spicy finish." - James Suckling Reviews
91pts "Lovely riffing on the theme. Alcohol spike on the nose seems to have dropped for this vintage. It’s drying herbs, choc ganache, hazelnut spread, roast ginger, fleshy plum and earthy base. Silky and slippery with neatly slotted in tannins working in a sharp left-right combo with bright acidity. Cuddly red fruits balanced with savoury herbs and iodine present well. Another winner from the CB team." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
91pts "Deep, dark and dense in the glass. Evocative, dark fruited and spice aromas. Plum, blueberry, cola, licorice and dried herbs. There’s a fair bit going on here. The palate is fleshy, dark fruited and mouth-filling. Mulberry, plum and dark cherry are all at play and their's a nice lick of sweet oak and spice. Tannins are shapely, acidity is punchy and the flavours are long." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
2020
GOLD MEDAL - London Wine Competition 2022
SILVER - Sommeliers Choice Awards 2022
92pts "A poignant extension of the franchise we’ve come to enjoy: roast nuts, chocolate sauce, dark raspberry, crushed herbs, some inky iodine and even a little cherry ice cream. Class volume turned up a few notches with better concentration of fruit (still a little prickle) through the silky palate. Good persistence of flavour and lip smacking tannin. Said before and I’ll say it again, this needs big glasses and an open fire and you’re doing the bull dance in your happy place." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
2019
90pts "Barossa blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre. Yep, it’s another goodun’. Warm with alcohol for sure and showing some stressed herb characters but the fruit is solid and it feels silken in the mouth. Watch the alcohol, enjoy the taste the feel." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
90pts "This is just fun. It’s dark and inky and yet bright and delicious. There’s roast walnut autumnal depth with layers of herbed dark fruit and hints of spiritous alc prickling the nose (but it’s well within the charm quotient). Suave, with plump purple berries, nutty oak and a seaweed iodine tang. Tannins like a polar fleece throw rug. Big glasses. Roaring fireplace." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2018
92pts “A gluggable, sloshy, soft and fuller weight red showing strong perfume of sweet, berried fruit, choc-cherry characters, faint roast meats and licks of nougat and vanilla. It's such a charming wine, shows touches of sophistication in its smooth, even texture and finishes all with soft and fine tannins. This seems to punch above its weight, and overall drinks with friendliness.” - Mike Bennie, WBM
2017
91pts "Barossa blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre. Beautiful drink. It has a calm air about it. Raspberry, plum, chicory and earth flavours flow through the mouth. Nothing feels pushed, nothing feels rushed. It has just-enough texture without being syrupy. There’s a gentle ferrous note too. Good buying-drinking here." - The Wine Front
2016
90pts "54% grenache, 24% shiraz and 22% mourvedre. Spicy and fruit-driven, with the aromatic qualities of grenache leading the way as it often does in these blends. Raspberry, strawberry jam and sweet cherry are prominent in the flavour profile within the smoothly textured palate which glides easily along from start to finish, the lightest touch of tannin keeping it in shape." - Halliday Wine Companion
90/100 "Medium to full red colour with a trace of purple. The bouquet is earthy and lightly spicy, with an overriding note of charcoal or soot. The wine is medium to full-bodied and rich, with soft texture but drying qualities, the aftertaste big on pepper and meaty charcuterie notes. The wine is intense and firm and lingers well. A serious red wine with ageing potential." - Huon Hooke
90pts "Barossa blend of grenache, syrah and mourvèdre. Ready when you are. What it lacks in weight it makes up for in character. And drinkability. This is good for any occasion, any time. Red and black berried fruits, inlays of dry/sweet spice, a general savouriness but a clear run of juicy, anise-flashed fruit too. Pitch perfect." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
"A pitch perfect midweek quaffer with layers of sweetish fruit, spice, juiciness and general fun loving nature, this doesn't feel like it is trying to be too sophisticated, more a drink for those seeking early complexity in a neat, tidy, relatively simple framework. Slosh it around with abound, it's great." - Mike Bennie, WBM
2015
90/100 "It's not hard to see the appeal. It's only light to medium-bodied but the sweetness of aniseed, the rush of raspberry and the ripple of earthen spice notes lend plenty of hands to the wine's drinkability/deliciousness." - Halliday Wine Companion
2014
93/100 "Aniseed and blackberry jam flavours meet dry spice and clove. The combination is delicious. Lick of tannin keeps it all neat and tidy. High drinkability." - Halliday Wine Companion
LA CONQUISTA!* Barossa Valley TGG Tempranillo + Graciano + Garnacha 2023 (93 points)
Regular price Sale price $30.00Since a vinuous pilgrimage to Spain in 2013, we have been on a quest to make the perfect roblé-style Spanish blend. 2023 marks 10 years on and the extended cool season (thanks La Niña!) gifted us the most complex and sophisticated La Conquista yet!
Tempranillo parcels from Gomersal on the Western ridge meshes seamlessly with Old Vine Grenache from Vine Vale while the Moculta Graciano adds spice and fragrant lift. Matured for eight months in seasoned French puncheons and hogshead barrels before meticulous blending, the final blend this year has more Grenache than usual which gives the ripe juicy fruit needed to flesh out the structure of Tempranillo’s complex and savoury fruit. The final blend is tempranillo, old vine garnacha and Graciano or TGG. Cherry and cola aromas mingle with hints of chocolate and spicy florals. A dark yet luminous crimson colour hints at the rich semi-savoury dark cherry and cola palate that finishes with a hint of red cherry juiciness.
Rioja-Inspired Red Blend. Perfect with pizza, or epic tapas wine.
Daniel Chaffey Hartwig + Huon Fechner + Theo Engela
2023
92pts "A Spanish Barossa blend with Tempranillo from Gomersal, Graciano from Moculta and Garnacha from vines in excess of 50 years old from Lyndoch. The name comes from the 1811 Battle at Barrosa Ridge (yes, it is supposed to be spelt that way) where Spain fought the French. The famous Colonel Light, integral to the Barossa, fought in that 1811 conflict, hence the name of both the region and this wine, even if the spelling of the former took a tumble along the way. Eight months in French oak. Delicious stuff. This is deep garnet hue, with a nose of warm soil, dark berries, leather, coffee grinds and roast meats (which is also something that would match this wine rather wonderfully). There is a satiny texture, making it almost an easy drinking style, with very fine tannins and a lingering finish with a gentle fade. Absolutely terrific drinking now, it will offer pleasure for the next six to eight years. Drink now-2032." The Vintage Journal
91pts "A slurpy mash-up of tempranillo, garnacha and graciano with spicy red and dark berry and red plum fruits, a dab of Medina spice, dried citrus rind, cola, pressed meadow flowers and drying grass. Lively with some nice crunch to the fruit on the palate and a super-lively mineral cadence." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
2022
SILVER + 93pts - Barossa Wine Show 2023
SILVER - New Zealand International Wine Show 2023
5 stars + 93pts "Sweetly fruited and elegantly perfumed, the wine shows Black Doris plum, clove, hazelnut and rich floral aromas, leading to a silky-smooth palate offering fleshy texture and silky tannins. Plump and flavoursome with a lengthy soothing finish. At its best: now to 2030." - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92pts "A vibrant, crunchy blend of tempranillo, graciano and garnacha. A joy to drink with its spicy red and dark berry and plum fruits, hints of souky spice, dried citrus rind and pressed wildflowers and fine, sandy tannin base. Bright, with just the right dosage of slurpiness and lots of enjoyment in each glass" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "In the groove with cola and cherry notes, black jelly bean, smoked chicken breast, wine gums, pickled jalapeño chillies and some roast nut earthiness. Mid weight and piquantly spiced. Fly screen mesh tannins and cool plum/raspberry fruit with an anise and clove offset. All the swirls of sweet and savoury and spice. Perfect to carve through a plate of tapa." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
90pts "Aromas of geranium, pot pourri, white pepper and mulberry. Firm, fleshy and textured in flavour. There's a solid drive of dark fruited goodness along with savoury, drying tannins and crunchy acididty. Quite complex and sophisticated." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
2019
92pts "Sub-names Battle For Barossa, this blend of tempranillo, grenache and graciano is all smoky black jelly bean, dried meats, pickled walnut nuttiness, nutmeg spice and jubey raspberry red fruit. Tight, dark and fruit focused with a keen thrust of acidity." - Regan Drew, Wine Words
91pts "Barossa blend of tempranillo, garnacha and graciano. Unfined and unfiltered. Here’s your point of difference. It’s more red berry than black, more stewed than sweet, more complementary than commanding. It’s a mid-weight red wine with lots of personality, not to mention charm. It’s completely different to the more usual black-hearted thumping Barossa red, but it’s not less enjoyable." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
90pts "A full-bodied, bold and savory red with a blood orange freshness. Plenty of substance, good balance and quite a zesty finish. Unfiltered. Drink now. Screw cap." - James Suckling
90/100 "Aromas of earth, cured meats, pot pourri, spice and a whiff of menthol. A full flavoured and layered palate; there is ample dark fruit flavours, but there's also a savouriness and floral edge to this that makes for a pretty complex glass of wine. Good length; grippy, textured tannins and firm mouth-feel. A very pleasant wine" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
2018
91/100 "Medium to deep red colour with the slightest tinge of purple in the rim. The bouquet is likewise forward-developed and starting to show some mellowness, with undergrowth, briary aromas and a soft, savoury, light to medium-bodied palate. Flavours are sweet in the centre but otherwise savoury and developed. Soft, lightly drying tannins. A very appealing forward, approachable red to drink now. And great value." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
2017
90pts "Barossa blend of tempranillo, garnacha and graciano. Great drink. Up-front with blue- and black-berry fruit flavour with lacings of peppercorn and coal. It feels gentle and refreshing and yet it’s hearty in volume terms. Bright with flavour." - The Wine Front
2016
90pts "64% Barossa tempranillo, 22.5% old vine Barossa grenache, and 13.5% graciano from Eden Valley. A lifted, perfumed bouquet, each variety contributing of course, but the whole seems more than the sum of its parts. It's silky and slippery on the palate with flavours of cherry cola and raspberry, and a sweet-fruited finish." - Steven Creder, Halliday Wine Companion
2015
92pts "It’s a fiery blaze of flavour too. If you’ll allow me to suggest; this is money well spent. It’s smoky and sordid and jubey and twiggy, all at once; it spins you around like a Luna Park ride, the combination of sweetness/savouriness/smokiness/spiciness managed quite beautifully. One thing it most definitely is not: boring. And yet it’s immaculately clean to boot" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

93pts + 5 ⭐️ "This is richly fruited and enticing on the nose, displaying aromas of blackberry, smoked meat, dried herbs, and roasted hazelnut. The succulent palate shows excellent weight and ripe fruit flavours, wonderfully framed by finely pitched tannins, finishing persistent and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2033." - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92pts "A lot of pure Barossan bang for your buck here. Comforting ... familiar even, with its cascade of plush blood plum and summer berry fruits, deep spice, licorice, dark chocolate and earthen tones. Creamy, powdery tannins, a bright line and a tide of pure, exotically spiced plummy fruit on the finish makes the wine instantly endearing and definitely prompts another glass. Great value" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
92pts "Oh goodness, it’s just what you expect to smell and taste and not be disappointed. Plenty of dark/red-berry-plum and cherry fruit, licorice edges, ample choc wrapping with a ferrous spine tinged with earth. Sprinkled with baking spices and pink peppercorn. Suave and supple. Quality of fruit is evident, but it never loses focus of being inherently drinkable by having a bright flourish of live fruit. Tannins are a little loose knit, but still spreading and consistent. Simply a lovely wine." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

SILVER + 91pts "Fruit from the northern Barossa, valley floor and the Eden Valley. Here's a great-value shiraz, flush with ripe fruit that sits at the lighter end of medium bodied. Dark and red plummy fruits, a splash of cherry and some red-fruited lift, a base of compact spice and chalky tannin along with wafts of chocolate, kirsch, earth and some mocha-like tones. Ticks all the boxes." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "Plush Barossa purple in hue. Has the hallmarks of what you need Barossa to be: choc/mocha and deep plum, cherry, blackberry with earthy ferrous ironstone providing some grounding. Fully flavoured, but not full on. Manages restraint and even a touch of elegance with grippy, chalky tannin driving through the finish. Nothing complex but classily put together and dangerously drinkable." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
90pts "Deep ruby colour with purple tints. The nose offers mulberry, mocha and ironstone, all of which show as power flavours on the palate. There's a fleshy character to the fruit without being too much and the tannins offer a good focus and drive to the finish. Very approachable now and will develop in time too." - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
90pts "Aromas of mixed peppercorns, currants, blackberries and rosemary. Very clean, youthful and peppery with a medium body and creamy tannins. Fresh finish." - James Suckling
2019
91pts "Deep, rich plum, dark cherry, black peppercorn, a fresh turned earthiness and dark chocolate kiss. Opulent and fleshy with good tannin structure" - Regan Drew, Wine Words
91pts "Barossa shiraz, warm and rich. There’s lots of flavour and lots of alcohol here. Blackberry jam, peppercorns, black earth and asphalt flavours with some brighter redcurrant-like notes and a general softness to the mouthfeel. This will satisfy." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
91/100 "Aromas of dark cherry, liqueured chocolates, dried herbs and spice. The flavours are all deep and dark with a juicy, fleshy roundness, plenty of generosity and just the right amount of tannin to tighten up the opulent fruit. A very enjoyable and drinkable wine" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

Silver Medal - 2020 Barossa Wine Show
2017
91pts "Eucalypt strikes from the outset though it brings raspberry and sweet plum with it. There’s a clovey, almost graphite-like note here too. This is a soft, supple, well-shaped shiraz, just complex enough and essentially easy to like." - The Wine Front
2016
90/100 "Deep, dense red/purple colour, with a slightly meaty reductive note on the nose, which clears with airing to reveal red fruit and spicy high-notes. The palate is straightforward and firm, intense and tight, with some firmness and grip, as well as length. Slighty rustic, but very good." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
93pts "Sourced from low-yielding vineyards throughout the zone including 17% from Eden Valley. New and seasoned French and American oak. Contemporary Barossa shiraz, expertly done. Bright, lifted berry and plum fruit in the bouquet, and a gentle, tarry earthiness to convey a sense of place. Softly textured, juicy and flavoursome, bouyant and fresh. Ticks every box" - Steven Creber, Halliday Wine Companion
90/100 "Deep, dense red/purple colour, with a slightly meaty reductive note on the nose, which clears with airing to reveal red fruit and spicy high-notes. The palate is straightforward and firm, intense and tight, with some firmness and grip, as well as length. Slighty rustic, but very good." - Huon Hooke , Halliday Wine Companion
Gold Medal and Food Match Trophy "An impressed Charlie Carter of Ten Green Bottles described ‘cassis and menthol notes on the nose, leading to more cassis dominating the palate, with some nice gamey character coming through on the finish, which has notes of black tea, menthol and liquorice’. The River Cafe’s Mattia Mazzi, meanwhile, enjoyed notes of ‘tobacco, as well as sweet-and-savoury fruit compote’, finding it to have ‘good concentration and balance’." - Sommelier Wine Awards UK 2019

2015
93/100 "Sourced from low-yielding vineyards throughout the zone including 17% from Eden Valley. New and seasoned French and American oak. Contemporary Barossa shiraz, expertly done. Bright, lifted berry and plum fruit in the bouquet, and a gentle, tarry earthiness to convey a sense of place. Softly textured, juicy and flavoursome, buoyant and fresh. Ticks every box." - Steven Creber, Halliday
92/100 "Deep red/purple colour with a voluminous dark berry aroma, invoking black plum and herbs tinged with aniseed. The wine is full-bodied and loaded with fruit sweetness, masses of drying tannins and a slight grittiness. This is classic Barossa and a real contrast to this maker's more elegant wines from Eden Valley. (Northern Barossa, Barossa Valley floor & Eden Valley)" - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
90/100 "Deep red/purple colour; the aromas and flavours are dense and ripe, concentrated, fleshy and smooth, soft and easygoing, but also intense and driving. It's a wine of up-front appeal with fine, dry, sandy tannins and a long palate. There is lush fruit and ripe sweetness balancing the tannins. Worthy stuff." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
93/00 "Volume of licorice, asphalt and raspberry jam flavour. This wine pours it on. It remains fresh and lively but it whacks the flavour at you. Firmish tannin to close. A full-bodied red, done well." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday

Stop press!!! 2021 Evangeline Single Vineyard Eden Valley Syrah takes out BEST IN SHOW out of over 18,000 wines tasted worldwide at the world's preeminent wine awards! The judges said of the Evangeline Syrah: "This is only the second Eden Valley Shiraz to fight its way to our Best in Show selection, and its emphatic, showstopping character underlines how well this slightly higher-altitude zone is suited to South Australia's favourite red variety."
EVANGELINE* presents an elegant cooler climate expression of Shiraz distinct from its Barossa Valley brethren with its lifted perfume and delicate structure. Cool blue fruits are intertwined with silky tannins and subtle oak influence from 18 months maturation in fine grain French oak puncheons and hogshead barrels. Perfumed. Confident. Elegant. NOACK FAMILY VINEYARD | SPRINGTON | 410m ALTITUDE | UNFINED | ONLY 490 CASES MADE
How will this wine evolve over time?
"Evangeline embraces the cool nature of the southern Eden Valley's higher altitude and is crafted for elegance, poise and approachable structure on release. The fine tannins and brooding, dense nature of Eden Valley fruit unfurls further with several years in the cellar. We really enjoy this wine at around five to eight years of age." - Halliday's 2024 Cellaring Selections

93pts "Bright plummy red in the glass. There's really pretty and lifted aromas of blueberry, pot-pourri, dried herbs, sarsaparilla, fruit pastille, white pepper, sweet oak and spice. Fleshy, blue fruited, tangy satsuma plum and cool fruited, with a cool menthol edge and a decent lick of shapely tannin. The acidity is perky and snappy and the length is impressive" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
92pts "Spicy and floral aromas of dark cherries, violets, blackcurrants, coffee beans and Asian spices. The palate is plush and rounded, with silky tannins and a tactile texture. A classic Eden with lift and perfume. Delicious." - James Suckling
Those of us who immediately thought of The Band and their terrific song, ‘Evangeline’ (who could forget the version from The Last Waltz?), are off the mark. Apparently, the name encompasses references to life, death, Jesus and resurrection (which seems like an enormous amount to place on the shoulders of a single wine). No matter, it is a most enjoyable effort, whatever the reason. Dark crimson hue, there is a pleasing degree of oak integration, with notes of dry herbs, mulberries, raspberries and aniseed on the nose. There is good focus, fine acidity and sleek tannins here, making for a most attractive red, but it probably needs a little more length if it wants to go to the next level. That said, lots to like. Drink now–2033" - Andrew Caillard MW & Ken Gargett, Vintage Wine Journal
2022
94pts "Single vineyard; 15% whole bunch, 15% new French oak. Pure, plummy fruits with some blueberry lift and hints of five-spice, sage, citrus blossom, blueberry pie, peppercorn, vanillin oak and panforte. It's a lovely contemporary Eden Valley shiraz this. Expressive and finely structured with a real pep to its travel across the palate." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
94pts"A rich, silky textured Syrah draped in fleshy dark fruit. Deep black dark red colour with a dark red hue. Lifted dark plum and liquorice aromas subtlety infused with clove are trailed by some smoked meat, dried herb and peppered earth notes. Medium to full bodied, the rich, silky textured palate is draped with fleshy dark plum and liquorice fruits which meld into a scorched earth, dried herb and peppered meat back drop. Velvet smooth tannins concluding long, savoury and succulent." - Nick's Wine Merchants
93pts "There was me thinking that we had a wine named in tribute to The Band and that great song of theirs, 'Evangeline" (anyone who has not seen The Last Waltz - surely the greatest concert film of all time - needs to move it top of their bucket list immediately). Apparently not so. Rather, it is a biblical reference to salvation. Well, The Band did play with Dylan for so many years, so perhaps we are somewhere halfway. However one wants to interpret this, it is a heavenly red. And it has a serious pedigree, with the previous vintage winning Decanter Magazine's Best in Show. 490 dozen. This is a vibrant magenta colour with a rather savoury nose. There are earthy notes, along with black fruits, leather, beef stock, soy and cloves. Seamless in style with fine acidity and satiny tannins, there is impressive length. Good intensity throughout and yet it retains a degree of elegance, this is a wine with a very promising future. It should provide pleasure for the best part of a decade. Drink now-2034." The Vintage Journal

"BEST IN SHOW" DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS 2024 - TOP 50 WINES OF THE WORLD - WORLD'S BEST SYRAH/SHIRAZ
97pts “This is only the second Eden Valley Shiraz to fight its way to our Best In Show selection, and its emphatic, show-stopping character underlines how well this slightly higher-altitude zone is suited to South Australia’s favourite red variety. The wine’s opaque black-red colour tells us that generosity is on the menu, and the first sniff shows that not only is its black cherry and plum fruit prodigiously aromatic, but also that the wine has had more than a year in oak. The plunging fruit – blackberry and blackcurrant – dominates the palate with the oak providing a little extra upholstery; and there’s a haunting citrus and lavender perfume on the palate, too, which does as much to structure the wine as the ample, gentle tannins and the curranty acidity. It’s an enjoyable and stylish wine which won’t require a long wait”
95pts "Smoky complexities to sniff, a mixture of smoked charcuterie/spicy cool-climate fruit and charry oak, nice rich fruit in there. Very appealing wine; fleshy and concentrated but elegant." Huon Hooke, The Real Review

"Single-vineyard Eden Valley Syrah sourced from the Noack family property in Springton at 410m elevation. Plummy and pure with layers of spice, sage, liquorice, blueberry pie, violets, pepper, vanillin oak and merest whiff of mint. There is a graceful air to the fruit passage across the palate, tannins, fine but tensing on the mid-palate with a purple floral flourish on the exit." - Dave Brookes, Halliday
2020
94pts + SILVER - Abundant ripe plums and summer berry fruits, cut through with fine spice, blueberries with a whiff of vanilla and subtle, sexy French oak. There's a lovely fruit flow, some nice cool-climate crunch and a cascade of fine tannin for support. A lot to like here." - Dave Brooks, Halliday Wine Companion
SILVER - 2023 Decanter World Wine Awards
SILVER - 2022 Decanter World Wine Awards
93pts "Lifted, vibrant, youthful, ripe, so pure and bright. Ripe berry fruit flavours with a touch of spice. This wine has layers of complexity with savoury nuances. Will improve with time." - Decanter Wine Magazine
93pts "Serious and cool EV Shiraz. Soaking plums, darker cassis, pencilly and vanilla oak influence (in a good way), cracked peppercorns and just a little leafy kitchen herb. Mid to full bodied with lovely flow and glide to the palate. Peering focus, narrowed eye slits drawing on purple and red fruits, nuanced with cool pepper and neatly etched tannins. Calm and serene" - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
91pts "This has aromas of dried violets, blackcurrants, cracked pepper and sage. Fresh and bright with savory and peppery layers. Medium-bodied. All nicely wrapped up in firm, fine tannins." - James Suckling
91pts "Five years old and enjoying that moment where some bottle development and age is starting to reveal itself. Savoury earth and leather notes move in tandem with dark plum, blue fruits, and spice-filled aromas. The palate is svelte yet plush with good structure in place, something to build a future on. A different expression of Shiraz, hence, the choice of Syrah as a descriptor with red and blue fruits, dark stewed plums, earth, chocolate and spice finishing tight and firm with distinctive Aussie bush, black pepper notes that lift the wine, adding to its inviting charm." - Jeni Port, Winepilot (2025)
2019
GOLD MEDAL + 95pts "A modern style of shiraz with ripe but not overripe fruit with high quality oak given just enough opportunity to make its point without dominating the argument. The fruit here is dense blues and blacks, with suggestions of vanilla and cedar. It is finished with beautifully fine, ripe tannins." - Royal Adelaide Wine Show
SILVER - 2022 Sommeliers Choice Awards
93pts "It’s always good, always reliable. This 2019 release is as good as any previous, maybe even better. It’s just so juicy. Just so perfumed. Just so enjoyable. Blueberry, boysenberry, plum and clove notes meet mint, sweet spice and woodsmoke. There’s a clear jellied/jubey aspect but there’s also a good reach of tannin, with the length to match. It’s both warm and fresh-faced at once; it’s in excellent order." - Campbell Mattison, The Wine Front
91/100 "Aromas of blue fruits, red cherry, spice and a cool menthol lift. Flavours are mid to full-bodied, the fleshy, generous blueberry and dark cherry fruit flavours are round and layered, with plenty of tannin and acid-derived structure. A well-made, soft, juicy, round and very drinkable wine." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
92pts "A very dark, dense colour, the nose shows lots of spice and white pepper, some quite exotic fruit and floral notes but pure and ripe blackberry and blueberry dominates. The gentle toast of the oak comes through on nose and palate, in a wine where a smooth but savoury fruit stays pliable and fresh across the mid-palate. The finish has fresh acids, very tight tannins, the oak again adding some toast in the finish" - Tom Cannavan's Wine Pages
“A lovely dark fruit character with a herbal edge to it, like a peppery gunpowder note. Gravelly tannins, a touch of sweet pastry, vanilla, nice and long, with a warmth, but the alcohol doesn’t sit outside the frame of the wine.” - Mark Pygott MW
2018
92 pts "Spice, liquorice, black fruit, sage and mint. Medium-bodied, red and black fruit, fresh, light tannin, lively, good finish. Easy to like. Affable and regional." - Gary Walsh, The Wine Front
2016
95/100 "Fresh plum, dry spice and dried banana-like aromas, fruit-driven and fresh, with some Rhône-ish notes. The palate has linearity and fleshy concentration, with ample soft tannins and refreshing acidity. A very appealing wine, the texture being a highlight. It drinks superbly already." - Gourmet Traveller Wine Magazine, Huon Hooke
2015
95/100 "Deepish red/purple hue, with a lifted floral aroma, clean and fresh and aromatic. The palate is similar, not big or heavy but intense and spicy, red-fruited and elegant, and finishing long on the aftertaste, with abundant firm tannins. There's lovely fruit-sweetness in the middle and a certain raspberry jam Eden Valley signature. Excellent." - Huon Hooke
93/100 "The flavour profile is sweeter than the word 'syrah' might imply but the wine's quality is never in doubt. Flavours of port wine jelly, pure plum, sweet raspberry and assorted dry/twiggy spices fill out the palate well; nutty tannin then completes the picture perfectly. Throughout the wine feels fluid and supple, making it a pleasure to spend time with." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday
92 pts "Char-grilled pepper steak, black fruits and boot polish, a whiff of dried herb. Medium bodied, meaty and savoury, with pastille and prune, grainy tannin, a slight angularity to the palate with an almost ‘metallic’ feel, though not in a bad way, I’d add, and a spicy red and black fruited finish. A wilder more bunchy style of Barossa Shiraz, but pretty nicely done." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
2014
92/100 "Red berries, boysenberries, spice and violets. It has some blackberried or at least plummy depth but the wine's sheer drinkability is conjured with soft fingers of highly accessible flavour. It has the acid/tannin structure to age, and the balance, but it's hard to find a good reason not to tuck in right now." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday

Düfte Punkt means “aromas point” and this new release aromatic wunderkind definitely lives up to her name, bursting with fresh Spring vitality!
One Vineyard. Three Germanic Luminaries... Düfte Punkt is an aromatic paradigm-shift. Striking tropical and turkish delight aromas introduce a complex palate showing lychees, mandarins, minerality and a lingering powder-puff of florals. The Fechner brothers' applauded vineyard in the Eden Valley is unique for both its spectacular aromatics and its unique varietal mix. This wines screams food and good times... and now the incredible 2024 release is here!
Drink it anytime with a soft (gooey even?! :) ) cheese platter or enjoy with any fiery spice laden dish from your local Thai spice den.
Katie Spain (The Age/SMH) says... "Pro tip - The Chaffey Bros. Dufte Punkt (a single-vineyard field blend of gewurztraminer, riesling and kerner) holds its own with fresh, spicy Asian dishes. Bang it on the lazy Susan and let the good times roll."
"If you like the idea of drinking a hand-grenade stuffed full of potpourri, you're gonna love Düfte Punkt!" - Theo Engela 2024
91pts "Hyper floral is the signature for this label. A mélange of rosewater, minerally pink salt, pink grapefruit, honeycomb, native blossom, lime zest, pear and lychee. The just viscous and creamy weight off-set by salty spice and spiky acidity. Bittersweet citrus lingers. Such a unique blend that absolutely comes into its own with spiced SE-Asian foods." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
2020
92/100 "Big hit of lime juice and fruit, pink rock salt, poached pear, grapefruit, mango chutney, rosewater and Turkish Delight “dust.” With weight and viscosity and dry spice from the Gewurz (and a touch of the Kerner) and thrust from the Riesling. Fleshier than one expects and a far drier experience than the nose suggests, there’s just a little phenolic textural chew that provides versatility. Continues the signature label saline, quinine-esque and grapefruit bittersweet finish. Unique and worthy." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2019
91/100 "Like a stroll through a CWA shop. Rosewater and pink musk sticks, lychee fruit with citrus of dilute lime cordial, brown pear, rock salt and a “face spray” refreshment. A textural, yet refined palate that offers above expectation fleshy breadth. Bittersweet lime pith, brown pomme all with a saline drying, long finish. Familiar, yet alien and a pleasure to enjoy." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2017
17.75/20 "Strap in for the ride. Lime flesh dominates the nose with key supporting elements from the lychees and spring-fed-watering-hole-clean mineral water freshness. Fennel continues to tickle and suggest, while crushed chalk dust falls. If the 2016 riesling corset managed to keep the gewürz reined in, this edition relaxes the laces a little and allows a glimpse of flesh with gusto. Lychees, limes, spice, musk…no one hates these things. Flavour finishes like crunching a “thirst” life saver…slightly chalky and zingy. Good time wine." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
92 Points "The sizzle of apple, the rush of lychee, the swoon of musk. This is exotic and lively, the combination charming. It feels fine. It feels pure. There's a textural element too. Any day of the week. It's good." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
2016
17.5/20 "Firstly, I really dig the packaging. Modern without being obtuse and eye grabbing without being kitsch. And some latitude/longitude for GPS geeks. Wonderfully aromatic…think all the just washed soft bits: there’s rosewater and bath talc and lychee along with clean lines of minerally lime and white rocks. It tickles the nose a little with fennel and bitter quinine/tonic too. The juxtaposition on the palate is almost hypnotic as the gewürz Rubenesque fleshiness gets corseted in by riesling, all whalebone-tight. Fruit and texture in very good balance. Screams food wine and great company." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
Adelaide Review's HOT100 Wine for the third consecutive year! "Beautiful cold tea and flowers. Delicate palate and length with a touch of green strawberry and herb."
92 pts "The Chaffey Bros wines always feel so harmonious. They glide through the mouth. This boasts a crunch of apple and a crackle of slate, but it slips and slides beautifully through your mouth. There’s a whisper of red apple-like sweetness/perfume and a gunsmoke-like note, along with a kaffir lime character. It’s an explosion of aroma, sure, but it’s also elegance personified"- Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
2015
Adelaide Review's Hot 100 Wine for the second consecutive year!
93/100 "41/38/21% co-fermented blend of riesling, gewurztraminer and wei?er herold. It lives up to its billing as an aromatic blend. Rosewater, lychee, Granny Smith apple and citrus notes rush the nose and mouth. Lots of texture this year, and an associated impression of richness. Crisp/fresh context. No question of its quality." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday
2014
Adelaide Review's Hot 100 Wine "Grapefruit, wet stone and juniper. Lifted aromatics provide real interest. Nice core of fruit and a mouthwatering finish."

95pts "In line with many as a 2024 vintage character, another delicate styling showcasing pretty aromas and a faint note of lavender and rose petal. Subtle acidity feels as well, celebrating the purity and fine beauty of the variety. A lovely wine. Drink now - 2034" The Vintage Journal (Andrew Caillard MW & Tony Love)
93/100 Special Value "Moculta-borne riesling from the Eden Valley with classic regional notes of Bickford's lime cordial, freshly squeezed limes, grapefruit, Christmas lily, crushed quartz, orange blossom, mineral salts and lemongrass. Plenty of cut and drive on the palate with a marble-like core of limey fruit propelled forwards by fine, racy acidity, focusing to a dry, limey end point. Boom!" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

There's lovely texture, mouth-feel and presence, and the length is impressive. A smart (almost) off-dry style of riesling." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

94pts “A tart, tense web of crackling acidity, there’s juiciness and a sense of very high drinkability. Sourdough, ginger and preserved lemon scents. Quite rich and forward in perfume but wholly appealing. Green apple and ripe citrus fruit characters with nutty savouriness in tow. Seriously appealing, savoury style.” - Mike Bennie, Gourmet Traveller Wine

93pts + SILVER - 2022 Decanter Wine Awards
93/100 "Pale yellow colour, with a lifted fragrance of fresh flowers and whispers of citrus blossoms. The wine is just off-dry, the sweetness helping make it more approachable at this tender age. It's very young and bright, will live long and reward cellaring, and it is delicious now. The balance is superb." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
Top Picks “Attractive aromas of beeswax, toast, lime zest and ginger. Perhaps some skin contact at work here with a pithy viscosity and a richness to the palate. The racy acidity and talc notes reign in the fruit to give a long, persistent and drying finish.” - Justin Purser, Young Gun of Wine
2018
93/100 "Very light, bright yellow hue. The aroma is fresh and bright also, with lovely crisp lemon-blossom notes, the palate is juicy and refined, off-dry, delicate and yet also intense with quite good persistence, the finish clean and appetising. 93pts "Light to mid yellow colour, very fresh looking for its years, the bouquet lightly browned, buttered toast and a whiff of dried flowers and dried lemon peels. Waxy aromas too. Top 100 SA Wines - Tony Love
92pts "Soft. Some spritz. Minerally, smoky, almost yeasty. A different expression of Eden Valley riesling in a way and yet there’s a clear, pure, citrussy line, a touch of talc and a general impression of reserve. It’s hard not to become enamoured. Sweetness here is modest at most. Basically it just drinks really well" - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

KONTRAPUNKT* Fechner Vineyard Eden Valley Kerner 2024 (save 10-19%!)
Regular price Sale price $35.00Kerner... this evocative, textural treat is the brain child of August Herold. First planted in 1929 as a cross-breed of Riesling and Trollinger... fast forward 76 years to when Barossa bros Graeme & Michael Fechner had that elusive lightbulb moment - to plant Kerner cuttings in their northern Eden Valley vineyard whilst on a research trip in Germany. Their pioneering efforts, sparked our intrigue... we first dabbled with Kerner incorporating it into our aromatic field blend DÜFTE PUNKT, co-fermenting it with Riesling and Gewürztraminer from the same vineyard. After years of experimenting, we decided it was time to truly hero this germanic wunderkind, and push Kerner into the limelight with the release of the first KONTRAPUNKT in 2016... now Australia’s (and the Southern Hemisphere's) only Kerner. “Every now and then you encounter a wine that blows your mind. Kerner is one of them. Haven't heard of it? You're not alone." - Katie Spain, SMH & The Age
So what's all the excitement about? It's like Riesling on steroids. Fuller in body and more luscious in texture. It's wonderfully aromatic, with a deliciously creamy palate & some bright acidity that keeps it fresh, lively and oh-so drinkable. This wine is for the foodie, the sommelier who has seen it all, and those who just want to drink different... it's white wine for the red wine drinker.

“… an exceptional expression of this rare variety, as the 2020, 2019 & 2017 vintages demonstrated. Vibrant aromatics with a hint of nuttiness. Great linear flavours of red apples and citrus, steely when young and softening off and rounding out over time to become a truly sensational, silky smooth, creamy wine.” - Dan Traucki, WBM

Hints of almond paste, citrus blossom, crisp pear, crushed stone and dried meadow flowers. A light textural note and a brisk, minerally finish; this makes for great and really interesting drinking." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

Hints of marzipan, almond blossom, a splash of nashi pear and a handful of crushed quartz ... some light whey and a suggestion of cut fennel further back. Lean, crystalline and lemony with plenty of verve, briny acidity and inherent drinkability. Get on the kerner train!" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion

90/100 "Pale lemon and lime tints in the glass. Ripe pears, white flowers and broken slate aromas. Light to medium on the palate, it sits with a good weight of orchard fruit and aromatic sweet spices. There's a hint of sugar amongst it, but the taut acid line and brush of phenolics balance that to dry the finish pleasingly."- Stuart Knox, The Real Review

Stewards' Choice Trophy - Australian Alternative Variety Wine Show
93/100 "Fresh and lively: initial pear split by spice, lychee, creamed honey, grilled kaffir lime skin, stony quartz with a touch rosewater on the pull-away. Offering some flesh to the front palate with richer than expected elements before the acidity refreshes with a lime granita like finish and a slightly tacky, drying phenolic grip. A moreish wine of difference." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook

Gold Medal "’Very elegant’ was Juan Manuel Marcos Perez of The Gilbert Scott’s first impression on encountering this impressive Gold-worthy wine, further describing ‘stone fruit like peaches, pineapple and mango, with a slight influence of oak’, while Elisa Soggia of Kai Mayfair noted ‘a creamy, smoky, vanilla aroma with elderflower and tropical fruit’. Team leader Laurent Richet MS was reminded of ‘key lime pie’, and found it ‘pure, bright and intense’, saying it would be ideal alongside ‘sweet and sour pork with pak choi and steamed vegetables’." - Sommelier Wine Awards UK

91/100 "The white grape kerner is the love child of riesling and the red, trollinger (aka schiava) bred by August Herold in ?29, Germany. This is the first 100% kerner made by Chaffey Bros and it's a savoury package of grilled nuts, cinnamon, lemon rind with neat phenolics on a slightly broad palate." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday
