Hand picked to capture both natural acidity/freshness and intensity of flavour, the riesling was then gently whole-bunch pressed and fermented on solids and bottled without fining with only a minimal addition of sulphur dioxide. Aromas of fresh first rainfall on slaty soil with jasmine white florals lead to a natural acidity tensioned palate, it’s dolomite/quartz mineral core adorned with a bounty of nutmeg, cardamon and cinnamon spiced apple, peach and feijoa fruits.

In 2021 the Starick's family’s organic vineyard in Springton (Eden Valley’s Riesling heartland) experienced pristine ripening conditions for riesling which resulted in incredible natural acidity, balance and overt aromatic impact.

95pts + GOLD (Elite) - 2022 Canberra International Riesling Challenge

93pts SILVER - "Organic Eden Valley Riesling from the Starick family vineyard in Springton and a further testament to the strength of the 2021 vintage. Pale straw in the glass with pure aromas of freshly squeezed lime, grapefruit, Christmas lily and crushed quartz. Plenty of tension and nervy energy here with a swift acid cadence and just a tweak of phenolics on the finish, which is dry, stony and graceful on the exit." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion 29th May 2023

“A cool and reserved style with heaps of energy, tension, a mix of nutty savoury characters and saline acidity. A sprinkle of white balsamic lift and tart grapefruit juice a feature. Very intense, refreshing, mouth-watering and complex. An edgier style, leaning into more natural feels, but with structure, energy and freshness.”
- Mike Bennie, Gourmet Traveller Wine

93pts "This focuses in on pure lime and lemon juice and peel with crushed stones as well. The palate holds an intense and juicy feel with long, mouthwatering acidity. Dry lime-juice finish. Screw cap." - James Suckling Reviews

92pts "How can one not enjoy this nose? Apple flesh and limey fresh. Cool stony, slate with a sprinkling of brown spices and blossom. Stony and intense through the body too. While the finish carries the slatey, briny theme long with pronounced acidity... Drink now to 2031 with ease." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook

92pts "Cool, long and cerebral but with a body to go with it. Gorgeous acidity, a bloom of fruit, a mash of mineral and fennel to close. Good territory here." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

93/100 "Shows the unusually aromatic perfumed florals and spice the cool vintage has bestowed on Eden Valley riesling, in company with the more familiar slate and citrus notes. Beautifully balanced and poised, with delicate fruit sweetness underpinned by minerally and very natural feeling acidity. Hard to resist drinking this now." - Steven Creber, Halliday

92+pts "Ultra clean and cool. Pure Eden Valley. Textbook. Blossomy and reserved at once. Bath salts, lime rind, spice. Elegant length. Will be beautiful in a few years." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

94/100 "Light colour, belying its age. The bouquet has some buttered toast nuances that are developed and alluring, minerals too, and the wine is at that lovely in-between stage, half way between youthful freshness and developed complexity. A very attractive wine." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

94/100 "Hand-picked from the Ahrens Vineyard. A fine, slatey, zesty wine, high on finesse, but with a fierce whip of flavour to close." - Campbell Mattison, Halliday

93/100 "Hardly showing any age at all with just a hint of TDN (1,1,6-trimethyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene) influenced “kerosene,” otherwise still showing a clean set of heels: lime and cumquat citrus, yellows floral, talc and wet slate. Still pure and delicate, espousing subtle texture with mineral, stony hints. Acidity still sings brightly and balanced. Have no problems putting it away for another 5 years." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook

Hot 100 SA Wines "Intense brown lime cordial notes, musk confection, showing a balance of lightness and fruit. So many playful elements in this wine that are made complex by maturity, almost queen-like in personality" - Adelaide Review
