Chaffey Bros Recent Awards & Accolades

The Trophy Cabinet

One small Barossa house. Six major trophies. Three years. Here’s what’s currently sitting on the shelf:

Rosé Wine of the Year  — The Real Review 2026
Not Your Grandma’s Rosé 2025 | 95 points | $25
Awarded 12 May 2026 as part of The Real Review’s Top Wineries of Australia 2026 awards. Judged by Huon Hooke, Aaron Brasher, Stuart Knox, Gabrielle Poy and Melissa Moore from a field of 10,146 wines.
“Rosé has evolved from an afterthought into a serious, high-quality category. The Chaffey Bros entry proves you don’t need to spend a fortune to find a Rosé with genuine complexity and character.” - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
A $25 Barossa Grenache + Mourvèdre rosé that outpointed wines three and four times the price. Old vines. Modern winemaking. Zero pretension.

World’s Best Shiraz — Decanter World Wine Awards 2024
Evangeline Single Vineyard Eden Valley Syrah 2021 | Best in Show | Top 50 Wines in the World | 97 points
One of only eight Australian wines - and just three from South Australia - to win Best in Show at the 2024 Decanter World Wine Awards, judged by 250 industry professionals from 33 countries against 18,000+ wines worldwide. Top 0.28% of the entire show.
“This is only the second Eden Valley Shiraz to fight its way to our Best in Show selection, and its emphatic, showstopping character underlines how well this slightly higher-altitude zone is suited to South Australia’s favourite red variety.” - Decanter judges
Cool-climate Eden Valley Syrah. Lifted perfume. Silky tannins. The wine that put new-wave Barossa Shiraz on the world map.

World’s Top-Ranked GSM — Decanter World Wine Awards 2025
La Résistance Barossa GSM 2023 | Gold Medal | 96 points
Back-to-back Decanter glory. A vinous rematch of the 1811 Battle of Barrosa Ridge — gnarly old-vine Barossa Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, fighting for the honour of the Rhône.
“Bountiful fresh cherries and raspberries burst over the vanilla chocolate intensity. Weighty and complex with lush tannins and a vibrant acidity woven into the frame.” - Decanter World Wine Awards 2025

Best Mid-Sized Winery — Barossa Wine Show 2024
The keystone trophy. Not for a single wine - for the entire operation. Recognition that the Chaffey Bros range, in its breadth and quality, is the benchmark for mid-sized producers in Australia’s most famous wine region.

Best Semillon Trophy — Barossa Wine Show 2024
Salvis Gratia Barossa Semillon 2022 / 95 points
A reminder that we’re not just a red wine house. Salvis Gratia (“saving grace”) is small-batch, single-vineyard, and unequivocally the best Semillon judged at the 2024 Barossa Wine Show.

Best Shiraz Trophy — Royal Adelaide Wine Show 2023
Omnia Nova Barossa Syrah 2022 | Best Shiraz Trophy (2021 or younger) | 96 points
Our first major Australian Shiraz trophy. Omnia Nova - “all become new” - old-vine Barossa Shiraz, reinvented with whole bunches, minimal intervention, brief élevage.

What it adds up to

Three years. Six major trophies. International, national, regional. Reds, whites, rosé. Best Mid-Sized Winery at the Barossa Wine Show. Best in Show at Decanter. Rosé of the Year at The Real Review.
We’re a small family owned business. Winemaking brothers-in-law Daniel Chaffey Hartwig & Theo Engela along with young gun winemaker & seventh generation grower, Huon Fechner, craft our handmade wines from a number of epic low-yielding vineyards nestled among the pristine Barossa & Eden Valleys in South Australia.

Part perfumiers; part historians; part mad scientists...

Our wine philosophy is ‘New Wave Barossa’... Soil up. Aromatic. Textural. Unadulterated.
