Introducing Not Your Grandma’s White 2024.
Challenged by our importer friend in Japan to make an “on-skins” cloudy white we took the opportunity to reimagine and explore what the definitive white blend of the Barossa could be. Informed by tradition but unshackled from expectation this was an opportunity to let our hair down and run wild! From the Fechner Vineyard in the north of Eden Valley this is a true field blend of aromatic and zesty Eden Valley Old Vine Semillon, Riesling, Kerner, Pinot Gris & Gewürztraminer… Fermented wild on-skins, think lemon squash laden with texture, refreshment and interest.
Unfined + unfiltered… minimal intervention yet maximum care means this is a skin-contact, natural wine that is cloudy but fine! A micro-batch of only 200 doz, this is a Barossa field white like no other. We can guarantee grandma never drank a white quite like this!!

Top 6 - Young Gun of Wine "Lucas included this in his top six from the blind tasting, describing it as “a well-made nod to maceration as a means in the cellar, rather than an end.” Nearer to golden than amber, it was “a richly aromatic style, a-tingle with lemongrass and yuzushu.” The nose “is a fitting preamble for a palate sodden with starfruit and lime curd, in concert with a tonic water–fresh sting,” abetted by “finely pixelated phenolics… mellowed with licks of cashew and meringue.” The finish offered “hints of smoky mezcal with a subtly bitter edge.” For Lucas, “whether ‘orange’ or not, this offers high intrigue – and is undeniably delicious.”" - Young Gun of Wine
90pts "Has that yoghurt, creamy and nutty wild ferment nose before opening up with lemon zest, musk kisses, pear juice, candle wax, wet dough, chalk, ginger biscuit and lemon cordial syrup. Sharp skinsy tang with salty, textural presence. Acid is juicy and the palate bone dry: almost doing that dichotomous thing of being both refreshing and thirst inducing. It's not meant to be a thinker, just made to drink when the weather is a hot stinker" - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
90pts "A skinsy Eden Valley blend of semillon, riesling, kerner, pinot gris and gewürztraminer. Mid-straw in the glass with notes of custard apple, white peach and citrus fruits with hints of soft spice, clotted cream, pressed wildflowers, poached pears, beeswax and lemon drops. Super slinky and textural on the palate with a brisk saline cadence and a stony-dry finish" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
