SUPERBAROSSA* {MUSEUM RELEASE} Shiraz + Cabernet
Regular price $50.00Spend over $150 to get free shipping!
Cabernet Shiraz... Australia's most iconic red blend. Superbarossa is our tribute to the original Barossa red, then known as Claret. The synergy of the two varieties becomes greater than the sum of its parts. The elegance of the Cabernet offers inky black berry fruit and cassis whilst the structured Shiraz contributes rich plum and strawberry red fruits. It's textured, multidimensional, rich, complex and oh so balanced.
SUPERBAROSSA 2014, 2018:
At the tasting on 4th June our panel found two wines at very different stages of maturity. Dan particularly enjoyed seeing the 2014 vintage (on release a Gold Medal winner at “The Great Australian Red”) maturing with added complexity, showing signature Cabernet malt, leather and cigar box notes now in addition to the dark and dense berry and mint tinged palate this wine is reknowned for.
Huon was surprised at how fresh the 2018 vintage was showing at the tasting, time in the decanter continued to reveal more depth of flavour and more over the next few hours hinting that this vintage still has a long, long way to go.
Both the 2014 and 2018 vintage are now vying for favourite museum vintage status, challenging our previous favourite 2016's position as museum cellar superstar!
Our Redux Museum Release program is a cellaring initiative where we hold back a limited volume of our favourite vintages, carefully cellared and released when at their peak.
There is nothing better than perfectly matured Barossa Cabernet Shiraz - Crack open a bottle and serve it with some super slow roasted lamb, some sticky barbecued ribs, or a humble piece of aged Gouda (complete with the lil' salt crystals and all)... oohhh yea!

2018
95/100 "Very deep purple/red colour, with an intensely spicy aroma which reveals a lot of char-oak notes. The flavour is full and rich, concentrated, fruit-sweet and well-rounded, with some alcohol warmth and a punchy finish. A real mouthful of deliciousness." - Huon Hooke
92+ "A mix of old and new school. Deep, dark, dense fruit; toffeed/malt-like oak characters; both leather and tar aspects. All this will keep lovers of Barossa Valley reds well and truly happy. But there are also florals notes, a run of juicy boysenberry, and bright tips of mint. In short: it’s hefty, hearty and well styled." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
93/100 "Bruising style. Oak, fruit and tannin; hefty serves of all three. Blackberries, tar, black earth and malt characters slip into mint, violet and bright raspberry. It's the epitome of the mouthfilling style."- Campbell Mattison, Halliday

GOLD MEDAL + 95pts New World Wine Awards NZ!!
SILVER MEDAL + 93pts - at 2025 Melbourne International Wine Competition
SILVER MEDAL - at 2023 Global Syrah Masters
93pts + 5 ⭐️ "This is richly fruited and enticing on the nose, displaying aromas of blackberry, smoked meat, dried herbs, and roasted hazelnut. The succulent palate shows excellent weight and ripe fruit flavours, wonderfully framed by finely pitched tannins, finishing persistent and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2033." - Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
92pts "A lot of pure Barossan bang for your buck here. Comforting ... familiar even, with its cascade of plush blood plum and summer berry fruits, deep spice, licorice, dark chocolate and earthen tones. Creamy, powdery tannins, a bright line and a tide of pure, exotically spiced plummy fruit on the finish makes the wine instantly endearing and definitely prompts another glass. Great value" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
92pts "Oh goodness, it’s just what you expect to smell and taste and not be disappointed. Plenty of dark/red-berry-plum and cherry fruit, licorice edges, ample choc wrapping with a ferrous spine tinged with earth. Sprinkled with baking spices and pink peppercorn. Suave and supple. Quality of fruit is evident, but it never loses focus of being inherently drinkable by having a bright flourish of live fruit. Tannins are a little loose knit, but still spreading and consistent. Simply a lovely wine." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com

SILVER + 91pts "Fruit from the northern Barossa, valley floor and the Eden Valley. Here's a great-value shiraz, flush with ripe fruit that sits at the lighter end of medium bodied. Dark and red plummy fruits, a splash of cherry and some red-fruited lift, a base of compact spice and chalky tannin along with wafts of chocolate, kirsch, earth and some mocha-like tones. Ticks all the boxes." - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
91pts "Plush Barossa purple in hue. Has the hallmarks of what you need Barossa to be: choc/mocha and deep plum, cherry, blackberry with earthy ferrous ironstone providing some grounding. Fully flavoured, but not full on. Manages restraint and even a touch of elegance with grippy, chalky tannin driving through the finish. Nothing complex but classily put together and dangerously drinkable." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
90pts "Deep ruby colour with purple tints. The nose offers mulberry, mocha and ironstone, all of which show as power flavours on the palate. There's a fleshy character to the fruit without being too much and the tannins offer a good focus and drive to the finish. Very approachable now and will develop in time too." - Stuart Knox, The Real Review
90pts "Aromas of mixed peppercorns, currants, blackberries and rosemary. Very clean, youthful and peppery with a medium body and creamy tannins. Fresh finish." - James Suckling
2019
91pts "Deep, rich plum, dark cherry, black peppercorn, a fresh turned earthiness and dark chocolate kiss. Opulent and fleshy with good tannin structure" - Regan Drew, Wine Words
91pts "Barossa shiraz, warm and rich. There’s lots of flavour and lots of alcohol here. Blackberry jam, peppercorns, black earth and asphalt flavours with some brighter redcurrant-like notes and a general softness to the mouthfeel. This will satisfy." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
91/100 "Aromas of dark cherry, liqueured chocolates, dried herbs and spice. The flavours are all deep and dark with a juicy, fleshy roundness, plenty of generosity and just the right amount of tannin to tighten up the opulent fruit. A very enjoyable and drinkable wine" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

Silver Medal - 2020 Barossa Wine Show
2017
91pts "Eucalypt strikes from the outset though it brings raspberry and sweet plum with it. There’s a clovey, almost graphite-like note here too. This is a soft, supple, well-shaped shiraz, just complex enough and essentially easy to like." - The Wine Front
2016
90/100 "Deep, dense red/purple colour, with a slightly meaty reductive note on the nose, which clears with airing to reveal red fruit and spicy high-notes. The palate is straightforward and firm, intense and tight, with some firmness and grip, as well as length. Slighty rustic, but very good." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
93pts "Sourced from low-yielding vineyards throughout the zone including 17% from Eden Valley. New and seasoned French and American oak. Contemporary Barossa shiraz, expertly done. Bright, lifted berry and plum fruit in the bouquet, and a gentle, tarry earthiness to convey a sense of place. Softly textured, juicy and flavoursome, bouyant and fresh. Ticks every box" - Steven Creber, Halliday Wine Companion

The palate is straightforward and firm, intense and tight, with some firmness and grip, as well as length. Slighty rustic, but very good." - Huon Hooke , Halliday Wine Companion
Gold Medal and Food Match Trophy "An impressed Charlie Carter of Ten Green Bottles described ‘cassis and menthol notes on the nose, leading to more cassis dominating the palate, with some nice gamey character coming through on the finish, which has notes of black tea, menthol and liquorice’. The River Cafe’s Mattia Mazzi, meanwhile, enjoyed notes of ‘tobacco, as well as sweet-and-savoury fruit compote’, finding it to have ‘good concentration and balance’." - Sommelier Wine Awards UK 2019

2015
93/100 "Sourced from low-yielding vineyards throughout the zone including 17% from Eden Valley. New and seasoned French and American oak. Contemporary Barossa shiraz, expertly done. Bright, lifted berry and plum fruit in the bouquet, and a gentle, tarry earthiness to convey a sense of place. Softly textured, juicy and flavoursome, buoyant and fresh. Ticks every box." - Steven Creber, Halliday
92/100 "Deep red/purple colour with a voluminous dark berry aroma, invoking black plum and herbs tinged with aniseed. The wine is full-bodied and loaded with fruit sweetness, masses of drying tannins and a slight grittiness. This is classic Barossa and a real contrast to this maker's more elegant wines from Eden Valley. (Northern Barossa, Barossa Valley floor & Eden Valley)" - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
90/100 "Deep red/purple colour; the aromas and flavours are dense and ripe, concentrated, fleshy and smooth, soft and easygoing, but also intense and driving. It's a wine of up-front appeal with fine, dry, sandy tannins and a long palate. There is lush fruit and ripe sweetness balancing the tannins. Worthy stuff." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
93/00 "Volume of licorice, asphalt and raspberry jam flavour. This wine pours it on. It remains fresh and lively but it whacks the flavour at you. Firmish tannin to close. A full-bodied red, done well." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday

A very enjoyable and drinkable wine" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
GOLD MEDAL + 95pts "A modern style of shiraz with ripe but not overripe fruit with high quality oak given just enough opportunity to make its point without dominating the argument. The fruit here is dense blues and blacks, with suggestions of vanilla and cedar. It is finished with beautifully fine, ripe tannins." - Royal Adelaide Wine Show
93pts "It’s always good, always reliable. This 2019 release is as good as any previous, maybe even better. It’s just so juicy. Just so perfumed. Just so enjoyable. Blueberry, boysenberry, plum and clove notes meet mint, sweet spice and woodsmoke. There’s a clear jellied/jubey aspect but there’s also a good reach of tannin, with the length to match. It’s both warm and fresh-faced at once; it’s in excellent order." - Campbell Mattison, The Wine Front
91/100 "Aromas of blue fruits, red cherry, spice and a cool menthol lift. Flavours are mid to full-bodied, the fleshy, generous blueberry and dark cherry fruit flavours are round and layered, with plenty of tannin and acid-derived structure. A well-made, soft, juicy, round and very drinkable wine." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
95pts "Really youthful, deep and dark in the glass. Intense aromatics of blood plum, dark chocolate, vanilla bean, licorice, bouquet garni and Asian spice. The palate is opulently flavoured: really dark, plummy fruits, blackberries, chocolate, and layered. There's some lovely oak that plays it part as well. There's plenty going on in this wine: it is decadently flavoured, but the tannins and acidity do their thing and make sure the fruit behaves" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
95pts "Flagship wine from the higher Eden Valley, Polished and dark, Blackberry, clack cherry, sandalwood, incense smoke with vanila bean paste and mushroom fin earthiness." - Regan Drew, Wine Words
94pts "It’s the one wine in the Chaffey range that I routinely struggle with but this release is a ripper. It’s big and throaty but it’s creamy smooth too; it has both grain and slip, its inherent, grunty tannin rolling through asphalt, blackberry, gum leaf and toast. It’s both big on flavour and big on quality. This has been pushed to its limits, and has noticeable warm alcohol to show for it, but it remains complete and convincing." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front

30 Best Australian Wines Under $30 - Huon Hooke
93/100 "Pale yellow colour, with a lifted fragrance of fresh flowers and whispers of citrus blossoms. The wine is just off-dry, the sweetness helping make it more approachable at this tender age. It's very young and bright, will live long and reward cellaring, and it is delicious now. The balance is superb." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review92/100 "Refreshing and delicate nose: delivering damp stones, citrus pith (both mandarin and lime), apple flesh with plenty of light floral blossom and a hint of sweeter honeysuckle. Dry, and showing fine purity as the fruit tails into a textural, structural exploration. Acidity is bright and bracing, leaving a balanced juxtaposition of refreshment and thirst." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
90pts "Bright, floral, fresh, slightly soapy, some apple concentrate and lime essence stuff going on, feels a bit concocted and non-grape fruity but also settles into being a decent drink, adult cordial style. Mouth-watering acidity a lovely feature and finishes the wine really well. Decent drinking." - The Wine Front
Top Picks “Attractive aromas of beeswax, toast, lime zest and ginger. Perhaps some skin contact at work here with a pithy viscosity and a richness to the palate. The racy acidity and talc notes reign in the fruit to give a long, persistent and drying finish.” - Justin Purser, Young Gun of Wine

Flavours of ripe red apple and nectarine, a thread of sweetness just perceptible but skilfully woven into the fabric of the wine." - Steven Creber, Halliday

93/100 Special Value "Moculta-borne riesling from the Eden Valley with classic regional notes of Bickford's lime cordial, freshly squeezed limes, grapefruit, Christmas lily, crushed quartz, orange blossom, mineral salts and lemongrass. Plenty of cut and drive on the palate with a marble-like core of limey fruit propelled forwards by fine, racy acidity, focusing to a dry, limey end point. Beautiful style of wine." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday

The low yields and mild ripening season in vintage ‘25 made for a benchmark year for Eden Valley Riesling. Tripelpunkt means “triple point”, a name that both alludes to it being a single vineyard wine comprised of three distinct blocks & aspects and our ongoing quest to make the perfect Riesling.
Tripelpunkt is exotic, alluring and versatile; a thirst-slaking luscious style that finds every corner of your palate. Textural and balanced with great natural acidity this is a versatile Riesling with all types of cuisine from fresh oysters and kingfish sashimi to Korean Fried Chicken or a picnic cheese platter.

Gold Medal - London International Wine Competition!
Featured in Young Gun of Wine’s Eden Valley Riesling Deep Dive - Top 6 pick! Yuki Hirose (MS, head sommelier, Lucas Group) selected this wine among his top six selections from the tasting, noting “aromatically less fruity than most other examples in the lineup, with a slight waxiness on the nose. Dense yellow fruits appear on the palate – golden apples, Beurre Bosc pears, golden kiwifruit – alongside an almost oily texture. The touch of sweetness on the back of the palate forms a nice contrast to the otherwise savoury, earth-driven nature of this wine. This would be great alongside a peppery watercress or roquette salad with a simple olive oil and citrus dressing.”
SILVER MEDAL - Canberra International Riesling Challenge
2024
95pts "In line with many as a 2024 vintage character, another delicate styling showcasing pretty aromas and a faint note of lavender and rose petal. Subtle acidity feels as well, celebrating the purity and fine beauty of the variety. A lovely wine. Drink now - 2034" The Vintage Journal (Andrew Caillard MW & Tony Love)
SILVER "Bright pale yellow with honeysuckle, lemon and light vanilla on the nose, this fresh white opens with elegant fruit and balanced acidity, finishing dry and subtly floral with refined simplicity." - London Wine Competition 2025
Boom!" - Dave Brookes, Halliday Wine Companion
92pts "Pale lemon hue with a fragrant nose of lime curd and baking pastry. Vibrant tropical and lime fruits on entry, there’s a sweetness at the core that adds a lusciousness to the flow. Ample acid and a touch of grip into the finish brings it into balance. A delight with food with some chilli lift" - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
91pts 2024 Canberra International Riesling Challenge
91pts "Very linear and precise, with aromas of lime sherbet, lemon peel, cotton candy and river stones. The palate is light-bodied with tangy acidity and an underlying texture. Very fun and friendly." - James Suckling
2023
93pts "Pretty aromas of citrus blossom, white flowers, lemon pith and wet slate. Quite juicy, fresh and zesty on the palate. There's a lusciousness of lemon and lime, along with tangy, pithy acidity. There's lovely texture, mouth-feel and presence, and the length is impressive. A smart (almost) off-dry style of riesling." - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review

GOLD - 2023 London Wine Competition
SILVER - 2025 Decanter World Wine Awards

2021
94pts “A tart, tense web of crackling acidity, there’s juiciness and a sense of very high drinkability. Sourdough, ginger and preserved lemon scents. Quite rich and forward in perfume but wholly appealing. Green apple and ripe citrus fruit characters with nutty savouriness in tow. Seriously appealing, savoury style.” - Mike Bennie, Gourmet Traveller Wine
92pts “Interesting nose, lime blossom with a touch of tobacco leaf development. Honeyed and textured with gentle freshness. Elegant and fine” - Roger Jones, Decanter

It's very young and bright, will live long and reward cellaring, and it is delicious now. The balance is superb." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review

2021
In 2021 the Starick's family’s organic vineyard in Springton (Eden Valley’s Riesling heartland) experienced pristine ripening conditions for riesling which resulted in incredible natural acidity, balance and overt aromatic impact.
2018
2017
Almost 8 years ago, anticipating its superior ageability, we decided to set aside 400 bottles only of the 2017 Zeitpunkt* Organic Riesling for careful cellaring. The wait is finally over and oh-so worth it!
INTRODUCING: ZEITPUNKT* REDUX 2017!
“Zeitpunkt” is German for moment in time {literally - time point}. This wine is a romantic vinous snapshot of a moment in history: 11th March 2017... that's when we decided the time was right to capture these pristine Riesling grapes, organically grown in Southern Eden Valley soils. Our mission for Zeitpunkt* has always been the same: get out of the way and let the vines do the talking.
93/100 "Shows the unusually aromatic perfumed florals and spice the cool vintage has bestowed on Eden Valley riesling, in company with the more familiar slate and citrus notes. Beautifully balanced and poised, with delicate fruit sweetness underpinned by minerally and very natural feeling acidity. Hard to resist drinking this now." - Steven Creber, Halliday
93/100 "Hand-picked, whole bunch pressed and fermented on solids. Shows the unusually aromatic perfumed florals and spice that this cool vintage has bestowed on Eden Valley Riesling, in company with the more familiar slate and citrus notes. Beautifully balanced and poised, with delicate fruit sweetness underpinned by minerality and very natural feeling acidity. Hard to resist drinking this now." - James Halliday's Cellaring Selections
92+pts "Ultra clean and cool. Pure Eden Valley. Textbook. Blossomy and reserved at once. Bath salts, lime rind, spice. Elegant length. Will be beautiful in a few years." - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
17.75/20 "Clean, fresh fragrance of light linen and lime. Cumquat citrus, ground brown spices, daffodil floral and minerally quartz rocks and slate. Pure and refined expression with ethereal juxtaposing rocky mineral lines. Limey acidity is contradictory: saliva inducing and thirst slaking. Cool, stony with a heart of lime pips and a long tail." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2015
94/100 "Light colour, belying its age. The bouquet has some buttered toast nuances that are developed and alluring, minerals too, and the wine is at that lovely in-between stage, half way between youthful freshness and developed complexity. A very attractive wine." - Huon Hooke, The Real Review
94/100 "Hand-picked from the Ahrens Vineyard. A fine, slatey, zesty wine, high on finesse, but with a fierce whip of flavour to close." - Campbell Mattinson, Halliday
93/100 "Hardly showing any age at all with just a hint of TDN (1,1,6-trimethyl-1,2-dihydronaphthalene) influenced “kerosene,” otherwise still showing a clean set of heels: lime and cumquat citrus, yellows floral, talc and wet slate. Still pure and delicate, espousing subtle texture with mineral, stony hints. Acidity still sings brightly and balanced. Have no problems putting it away for another 5 years." - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
Hot 100 SA Wines "Intense brown lime cordial notes, musk confection, showing a balance of lightness and fruit. So many playful elements in this wine that are made complex by maturity, almost queen-like in personality" - Adelaide Review

SILVER - Melbourne International Wine Competition
90pts "Very pale lemon and lime tints with white flowers, grapefruit, and shortcrust pastry aromatics. A richer, more textural style of riesling that still sits with citrus and tropical fruit but has a density and savoury pastry tone through the core that sets it apart. Acidity is soft but does drive and the long finish is still mostly dry." - Stuart Knox, The Real review
90pts "Lime flesh and apple skin with slap in the face freshness of sea spray, a suggestion of rosewater, “Nice” biscuit, coriander and green leaves. Cuddly and generous fleshy feels tempered with a little grainy phenolics and puckering green apple acidity giving a fine drive. No need to overthink it. Ready to cut through tempura battered fish and chips or trays full of pot stickers." - Regan Drew, vinonotebook.com
2021
95pts + GOLD + #1 Vintage 2021 Riesling - Decanter Magazine Riesling Panel Tasting, June 2021
95pts "Lovely bright perfume, freshly squeezed limes, a dash of rose, a salty, maritime lift. A sumptuous feel, textured & round. A touch of bergamot & a soft feathery touch. Forward, but will age nicely." - Justin Knock, Decanter
95pts "Expressive nose, delicacy on the palate with underlying power, an almost exotically floral finish. Soft with a steely core." - Julia Sewell, Decanter
95pts "Hints of tropics, touch of banana, fresh acidity, some citrus peel, zing & zang, gentle jasmine & some herbaceous characters." - Roger Jones, Decanter
91/100 "Super-fine, fresh citrus aromas with apple and lime, too. The palate has a soft, juicy feel with open-knit pear and apple, as well as lime. Drink now. Screw cap." – James Suckling
90pts “Flavour-full Riesling. Doesn’t shy away and be all coy like “come back in 20 years time and maaaaaaybe I’ll be ready.” That’s not to say it won’t last that long. Probably will. But chances are there won’t be any left to try as it will have all been drunk. Sliced apples, juiced limes, hints of richer green pear too. A suggestion of saline sea spray and a hint of rosewater. Some grip and width through the front of the palate but the right amount of tight, tense intense citrus to close. Bring all the dumplings.” - Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
2020
91/100 "Bright, ripe-peach and lemon with hints of melon here, too. The palate has a very crisp, vibrant and elegant feel with intense, attractive peach flavour." – James Suckling
90/100 "Fragrant aromas of bath salts, talc, lime leaf and slate. Crunchy, pithy and lemony, and there's a lovely soft acidity that makes for a really approachable, smart glass of riesling" - Aaron Brasher, The Real Review
92/100 "Light, bright yellow colour, with a green kaffir lime and crushed herb aromas, the palate delicate and refined, with tension and length and a trace of phenolic grip that adds to its texture and persistence. A tickle of sweetness, too. Slaty, fine and long." - Huon Hooke, The real Review
2017
91/100 "From 18-40yo vines at the Noack Vineyard at Springton. Crisp and fresh, as behoves the vintage. Light, floral and delicate lime. Certain to develop very well.” -Halliday Wine Companion.
2016
91/100 "This turns up the citrus dial with lemon-lime blossom/juice/drops and zest with some mint too. It's refreshing with slatey, racy acidity and a slight bitter finish." - Jane Faulkner, Halliday
2015
92/100 "Exactly as it should be. Floral and limey with just enough intensity and just enough length. Smells/tastes good, without resorting to trickery." – Campbell Mattinson, Halliday
